Did you know that today

there was the annual Belgian Cenotaph Parade, which traditionally takes place on the Saturday preceding Belgian National Day (July 21). Belgium is the only non-Commonwealth nation allowed to parade its troops, armed and in uniform, through the streets of London.

It's all thanks to a unique honour granted by King George V, following the death of King Albert I of the Belgians, in recognition of the heroism and sacrifice of the Belgian Army during the First World War. That tradition continues and The annual Belgian Cenotaph Parade returned to Whitehall for the 92nd time, marching from the Cenotaph to the Guards Memorial.

A powerful reminder of the deep, enduring ties between Belgium and the UK. First held in 1934, it's one of the most moving symbols of remembrance and friendship between our two nations. If you're in London whenever on this day, keep an eye out on Whitehall for this rare and remarkable sight.
