Crossing paths
I had to be in London today. I get up and get the early train. I then have breakfast while doing some work in a cafe before hitting the office. I'm sat at a table in a little cafe off the Euston Road and a shadow comes over me and stays. I look up and a guy I don't recognise says "Katy?"
He's not staff or a student, I'm thinking a connection through recovery. Then I remember a teenage lad with dreadlocks who hung with the gang me and my ex were part of. The guy with the suit and cropped hair is a much different looking person now.
"You're a long way from Eltham” I say.
He sits and tells me he's not been there for many years. He lives north of London now. He asks what I'm doing round there and I tell him I work at the university. He's visiting he says to help on some research. Now I'm very intrigued. "What do you do now?". I'm floored as he produces a warrant card! Policeman, a DS!
"We're both a long way from Eltham" he says. I walk with him onto campus and point him towards where he needs to get to.
Terrific meeting him glad I'm not the only one that managed to get out of the crap we were in then.
