London without the Tube is a nightmare
Thank goodness I work in walking distance from the train station. Queues for buses and taxis utterly nuts.

I have found it rather refreshing. I have twice made a return journey, which I would normally make by bus and tube, by several overground trains plus a bit of walking. It took only a little longer than usual, and was much more enjoyable.
