Going to Vegas Tomorrow

My Mom was going to go by herself but last minute she asked me if I wanted to come with her. So she bought me a last minute ticket.

I always enjoyed Vegas. I like playing Blackjack and Texas Hold Em Poker. It’s a nice brief escape from the monotony of everyday life.

@whowasthatmaskedman Everything is nowadays sadly

@VampireQueen Well, make sure you have the fun you want. The cost will fade after a while😷
@whowasthatmaskedman It was expensive when I lived in LV from 2005 to 2010

@NativePortlander1970 Interesting... I got a vibe from those who lived there at the time. Hotel staff, drivers, shop staff.. A sort of quiet desperation in a low key way..But this would have been a little after you left..A feeling like this was their last chance..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman Things got bad after the 2008 meltdown, Obama ordering those who took bailouts not to do "Vegas ventures", meaning conventions, which contributes to about 70% of LV revenue, by the near of the end of the spring of 2009, around the end of august beginning of september 2009, Clark county southern Nevada, where Las Vegas is, it sent from the lowest unemployment in all of the US, to the highest foreclosure rates in the United States, numerous entire developments all throughout the Las Vegas area had become ghost towns, numerous condo buildings near total unoccupied, there was a massive exodus out of the area and massively increased homelessness.

@NativePortlander1970 Yes.. At the time we arrived we were still getting more than $1US for our $1A.. I couldnt believe our luck..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman For years Vegas was desperate for any kind of tourism, now they have gone opposite wanting only whales with their fees for fees on top of fees

@NativePortlander1970 We could start a whole separate thread on what a stupid idea that is. But it took hold post Covid when business figured out it didnt have to compete on price to make a profit. Just provide less and jack the prices up.. I regard as a pointer to the limited thinking of corporate culture. Particularly evident. (but not exclusive to) America..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman Right now the majority of LV corporate holdings on their resort casino properties do not care, surprisingly the ONLY Strip property that is still in the black is Circus Circus, because they still operate 70's style, family oriented, no outrageous pricings, and no fees.

@NativePortlander1970 Agreed.. This is going to get complicated. But right now, corporates are buying stores of value against the coming downturn.. And LV real estate is a good one. It may take a decade or two.. But the land will be worth something and the debt will be in paper $. So who cares?😷
@whowasthatmaskedman They will care, MGM and Caesars Holdings are both hemmoraging dollars by the hundreds of millions because tourists are flocking to Downtown and the Boulder Strip to avoid fees
@whowasthatmaskedman When I worked Caesars security I loved it, One early morning at about almost 4am when I was doing hotel patrol, just walking the hallways, I got a noise disturbance call, some guy in one of our $4,000 a night suites had his stereo blaring, I banged on his door until he opened it and told him to turn it down, he made that "do you know who I am and how much I paid for this suite?" I told him I do not know who he was, then motioned him to come out to the hallway and motioned up and down the hallway, then above to his ceiling and below to his floor, and told him collectively they all paid a fucking lot more, and if he doesn't turn it down more I am authorized by hotel management to evict him from the room, escort him to his vehicle and exterior security would escort him off property and be tresspassed off all Caesars Properties throughout the world, including Macau, China.

@NativePortlander1970 OK. I think the point you are missing is a lot of that debt isnt American money. US corporate law is a rats nest of havens. China, Japan, Arab countries and Russia already own large slices of American real estate and business they will never have to pay for..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman The only thing I am upset about working Caesars security is that wouldn't let me be armed unless I did exterior bike patrol, I was 10th on the waiting list, and it had the lowest turnover out of all the departments, all of us on the list had to be credentialed for armed security...
