How’s Tampa this time of year?

@Musicman I was in Orlando in August. The main areas there are sufficiently theme park-ified as to not showcase too much of that. But I’m sure in the outer burbs and other cities there, it’s everywhere. I haven’t been to Tampa since 2007.

@travelguy01 The town it self is really nice. We have friends there. That's also where LazyDays is. They are the largest RV retailer in the country. We bought ours there. They encompass 126 acres and are the Disney World of RV's.

@Musicman I have a friend who lives in Melbourne. I met up with him and his family for a day while we were there. Unfortunately he seems to have gotten into the alt right conspiracy theories on the Gab site and has started becoming obsessed. I reckon it happens to lots down there. It’s strained his relationship with his oldest daughter since she is much more liberal, and they used to always have a very good relationship. So sad.

@travelguy01 That happens. Are you still friends?

@Musicman I hadn’t talked to him since before the pandemic in 2019, he was no way near that way back then. After this visit, I haven’t really reached out any further other than to make sure they were okay after the last hurricane there. I’m thinking of keeping my distance. I don’t want my teenage son exposed to that either.

@travelguy01 Smart idea. Could you imagine the horror if they were to transform him into a conservative or a Republican. 🤦‍♂️

@Musicman Nope. We have a very good school system here, not one where they try to ban books and force far-right bible thumping rhetoric into kids, just so some yahoo gets to keep his crazy political base.

@travelguy01 So what does the school system teach where you are?

@Musicman They teach about all kinds of sexuality in health, they don’t shy away from it or assume it should be banned. They are also very big on diversity and inclusion and anti-bullying. Academically my county is one of the best in the country. None of the anti-DEI stuff going on down there.
