Every winter the population in Florida triples as people come south for the winter.

@Stereoguy From liberal states probably. Like NY area. There are still wearing them here. I guess they have their reasons but this city really pushed it back during the quarantine. I did my shopping in Moore, the small businesses never required them but the corporate stores did. So I shopped at the local business chains instead.

@Stereoguy Maybe the election was tampered with and maybe the ones that can travel down there didn’t vote for it.

@Stereoguy Oklahoma is in the top 10 for people moving here now. Probably what’s keeping the prices of real estate up here. And so many phone calls from businesses who want to buy up properties. I think a lot of them are Conservatives that lived in Blue states. I know one couple about my age, the woman left here in her early 20’s and lived there till about 2 years ago and she got the hell out, sold their almond farm etc within 2 weeks of listing it and she bought a home here online, I think her brother helped her with inspections etc before the deal went through….it was near where he used to live.

@Stereoguy I don’t know either way. It’s good if more Conservatives return to Oklahoma, I think you know that. I don’t know if anyone is keeping track of that. I think some of them are the undocumented moving here. There is a heavy presence at the high school now that wasn’t like that 10 years ago or so.

@Stereoguy undocumented students. There were a lot of teachers quitting this summer due to having 600 freshman last year, this year there were 800 freshmen students at the school the boy goes to. And a shortage of teachers, they are hiring a lot of substitutes and begging people to come to work there now. And there are two high schools in this city both of them large schools.

@Stereoguy They got to put them somewhere don’t they? Our property taxes are going up, up, up too because so many properties are being sold and bought up.

@Stereoguy This area had a lot of increases, every time an F-5 or F-4 tornado or major windstorm hit they will raise the rates the next year. We’ve had so many hail and windstorms that some people are starting to put metal roofs on their homes to replace the shingles. Most neighborhoods have a rule for the neighborhood to have a specific type of roof but it is getting ridiculous having to replace the roof so many times and people will probably save quite a bit on their insurance too if they do it.

@Stereoguy I have no idea what the materials and labor cost for them. The price of everything has gone up This past year or two.

@Stereoguy Some people are putting white metal roofs on their homes, probably to keep them from heating up so much in the summer. That color kind of sticks out like a sore thumb when all the surrounding roofs are brown or another dark color. But I can understand why they’d want that color.

@Stereoguy that’s a lot of money but they should last longer except if your entire home gets blown away…could happen here or there.

@Stereoguy yeah I imagine. I had a black Geo Prism about 25 years ago and would have to drive about 4 or 5 miles before the a/c kicked in real good. I drove to the pharmacy after work to pick up some medicine for my daughter and the pharmacist was concerned and wanting to help me because my face was beet red from the heat inside the car.
