I Love Florida

How I Got To Florida... It is kind of a funny but sad story. I worked for a family owned insurance company. They did not believe a woman could do the job as an adjuster..after all what lady wants to climb roofs or get on their back on a dolly and go under a car? ..

i wanted to be a teacher when i grew up but my divorce forced me to quit school temporarily and seek work. I was asked to go into the underwriting program once i graduated..a much safer occupation for a lady..Unfortunately, the program was frozen so i was left with adjusting..Apparently, i was the center of a fight between HR and the claims vice presidents..I was going to be the first token female in their adjuster training program.  They did not want to hire me..nope..so I went in it with the attitude that I was going to beat the pants off the men in that class..And i did.

I was supposed to go to San Antonio,Texas..but the manager did not want me..yes, that is right..did not want me..not personally but as a woman. I was sent to Florida by default. This job changed my life.

I learned that the Vice President that decided to take a chance on me was dieing. I wanted him to know how much he had changed my life by his decision to hire me. I wrote him a letter and thanked him for giving me an opportunity and let him know how much i learned from him.

I was engaged at the time and my fiancee's idea of paradise was where i live..the job lasted but the relationship did not..i love Florida and hope to stay.

Florida was good to me for 20 years. I got tired of heat, traffic and having to wait at resturants for an hour even when I had reservations. I retired to Alabama and now it is too hot but at least we do have cool weather in the winter unlike Florida. I had some great friends in Florida and I did enjoy the bass fishing. I am glad you enjoy living in Florida. By the way, I liked the NO INCOME TAX in Florida. Alabama has an income tax which can be 6-7%. Property tax in Alabama may even be higher than Florida and sales tax is 9%. 9% is outragious! I think I may move back to Florida - only kiddding.
