The southern US traumatized me

I keep having recurring nightmares about having to return to Tennessee or Texas for some reason or other, then somehow getting stuck there with no way to come back to the west. 😩

I live in the West 14 years. you can't buy a job. that is a nightmare knowing you will never in your life afford buy you family a house.
then I moved east. have a house land...more jobs than workers.

@jackrabbit10 not my experience at ALL. I was so broke in the south, and now in the west, I live in an actual house and am able to live comfortably.
@DearAmbellina2113 one reason I went to Sonoma California in 1959 jobs a plenty. by 1980es rent went sky high emigrants got all the jobs they worked for less. at that time Tennessee was a boom state. been here ever after. I still love Cal.

As a former resident of the southern US, that would be very disturbing for me too.

I used to have nightmares that even though I am a college grad it turns out that somehow I didn't finish high school and I have to go back to my small Illinois hometown for my senior year. Then it got to where I just laughed and said who cares, I work in a restaurant!

A lot has transpired since you moved west, the disappointment will pass and the sun will shine again!
