Which is the best of all fifty in the United States?

If I had to pick one, it would probably be California. I live in the northeast, but it's hard to beat the variety of natural beauty to be found in California.

it would be so interesting to see what the US would be like today also if the "founding fathers" had not bent over backwards to appease southern slave-owning states with things like A) moving the national capital from Philadelphia to Maryland in the south, B) the electoral college and C) giving every state two senators regardless of area / population size ... everything has been artificially weighted in conservatives' favor since the inception of the US, which will be what ultimately leads to the dissolution of the US
