Why can't I make up my own way to get to heaven?
I was thinking today about something someone told me.
They said, "I have my own way." That sounds right to some, but it's not in harmony with Jesus' path or plan for salvation. He told us "that won't work. If it did I would not have had to go to the cross."
Why can't I make up my own way? Because love doesn’t lie to us. If there were 100 roads to the Father, Jesus wouldn’t have had to go to the cross.
Jesus said I AM the way. Not a way. The way. John 14:6
I don’t get to invent the door. I just get to walk through the one He opened with His blood. And the beautiful thing is, He made the way because He wants us with Him.
We don’t build it. We don’t earn it. We don’t decorate it. We just walk through it. Because He bled for it.
That’s the gospel in 20 words.
Jesus paid. The door is open. All we do is believe and walk in.
Jesus paid for our sins with His blood — that’s what makes it powerful. Without the blood, there’s no door. Hebrews 9:22 "without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins."
It’s not about rules. It’s about relationship. So I can’t decide my own way to heaven, because heaven isn’t a place I earn. It’s a Person I know. His name is Jesus.
I get it. We all want to think we can figure this out on our own. We think if we are good enough, or pray enough, or do enough good things, that will get us to God.
But here is the problem. Jesus said there is only one way.
John 14:6 Jesus said, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Acts 4:12 says, Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
We can’t design our own salvation.
Romans 3:23 says all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Isaiah 64:6 says even our good works are like filthy rags, compared to God's path to Salvation.
That is why we need Jesus. God didn’t leave us to figure it out. He came down, made the way, and showed us the way, so we would not have to guess. Because this is much too important to get it confused.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.
So if you are trying to make your own way, can I lovingly ask you to stop and look at Jesus? He already paid for it. He already opened the door.
John 10:9 Jesus said, I am the Door. If anyone enters through me, he will be saved.
Please don’t wait. Jesus is now is the time to come to him for salvation. That's something we should not put off. Don’t try to build your own road. Jesus said the only road to the Father is through His Son. John 14:6
I don't know about you, but I trust God, over man's word, any day.
I figure if Jesus came all the way here from heaven to make sure I know how to get to heaven, no one knows better than He. Five hundred witnesses watched Him ascend into heaven after His mission was complete... 1 Corinthians 15:6. That's enough for me.
Jesus did the hard part with his blood. All we have to do is invite him into our hearts and lives as our Savior and He will take care of the rest, and give us a permanent home in heaven when we pass.That is divine security. He said any who come to Him, He will never cast out. Amen!
