Believers Shall RETURN With Christ at His Second Coming
The Mount Of Olives is the place of God’s coming, going, and coming again!
The Mount of Olives played a significant role during the Passion Week of Jesus, during which, several Messianic prophecies were fulfilled (and made):
1. Triumphal Entry: Jesus officially presented Himself to Israel as the Messiah (on the very day prophecy predicted) when He rode into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey (Ps. 118:22, 25-26; Dan. 9:25; Zech. 9:9, 16; Matt. 21).
2. Olivet Discourse: After leaving the Second Temple for the final time and pronouncing judgment against Jerusalem, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives with His disciples and explained prophecies that anticipated Jesus' Second Coming (Matt. 24-25).
3. Betrayal and Abandonment: On the same slope where His disciples had hailed Jesus as Messiah four days earlier, Judas betrayed Him (Ps. 41:9; Matt. 26:31; John 17:12).
4. Ascension: After His resurrection, Jesus gave the Great Commission to His disciples and then He ascended to heaven from the Mount of Olives (Acts 1:9-12).
5. Mosque of the Ascension: The structure commemorates Jesus’ ascension on the Mount of Olives. The original 4th-century building has been renovated through the centuries—by the Crusaders and most recently by Muslims, who own the site today.
6. Second Coming—The place of His going, will be the place of His coming! Just as Zechariah predicted the first coming of the Messiah — who appeared on the Mount of Olives — so the prophet foresaw the Second Coming of Christ whose “feet will stand on the Mount of Olives” (Zech. 14:1-4, 9).
*Note that Jesus' feet do NOT touch the earth, at the rapture. Believers meet Him in the air: Only at His Second Coming, does His feet touch the earth, on the Mount of Olives.
7. 1 Thessalonians 4:13,18 - " Then we which are alive and remain, shall be caught up together with them (believers who preceded us in death) in the clouds, to MEET THE LORD IN THE AIR: and SO SHALL WE EVER BE WITH THE LORD. [18] Wherefore comfort one another with these words." Not EVERYONE ON EARTH were taken at that time. Unbelievers who mocked and cursed Him, were left behind.
The Church that was raptured, shall later RETURN WITH HIM, to fight Israel's enemies, during the Battle of Armageddon. (Rev. 19:14).
Throughout the Bible, Christians are referred to as soldiers of God. When a person invites Jesus into their life, He should become the Lord of their existence. Jesus becomes the enlister and head of the Christian's life (2 Timothy 2:3-4). And we follow Christ not because we have to, but because we want to, out of our great love for Him and what He did for us on the cross. No one will ever love us like Jesus.
Jesus wept twice on the Mount of Olives during His Passion Week:
On Sunday, He wept at His Triumphal Entry because of those who would reject Him. On Thursday, He wept at the Garden of Gethsemane, because He knew what redeeming sinners would cost Him, and all the pain and suffering He would experience and the terrible whippings within an inch of His life.
We too, have each rejected God and walked our own way. Christ’s gracious, voluntary surrender at Gethsemane — lead to Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection — and made it possible for our redemption.
Those of us who believe in Jesus, shall be raptured before the "wrath to come", and shall be in His Heavenly Army that RETURNS WITH HIM at His Second Coming, when “His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives” (Zech. 14:4; Rev. 19:14).
In Revelation 19:11–20, a final battle occurs at Christ’s Second Coming, as the conquering Christ defeats the forces of the Antichrist, in the Battle of Armageddon mentioned in Revelation 16:
“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice He judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on His head are many crowns. He has a name written on Him that no one knows, but He himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is the Word of God.
The armies of heaven were following Him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Coming out of His mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. ‘He will rule them with an iron scepter.’ He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On His robe and on His thigh, He has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."
I hope you'll prepare now for the rapture, so you won't be left behind. Jesus said not to put that off, but to do it today.
