For those who are so down on Jesus, there's always two sides of the story. Jesus wants you to see his.

MULTIPLE broken ribs, is what the purely innocent Jesus suffered, under the rule of Pontius Pilate, a Roman emperor, before his final, fatal destiny on the cross.

The Roman's were well known experts at knowing just the right formula for inflicting the maximum amount of pain on their enemies, just a hair short of their lives. That's why Jesus of Nazereth received exactly 40 lashes from the lethal Cat 'O' Nine Tails, and not a lash more.

First they disrobed him, which in itself, was shameful enough. There he stood, naked before his enemies, for all to see. He could have brought them all down, with just one word, but he did not. He had you on his mind, and what his sacrificial death would mean to you, his generation, and the generations to come. He knew that by his pure, innocent blood, your sin debt would be paid. You see, in the spiritual realm, no sins can be forgiven, unless a blood sacrifice is offered. (Hebrews 9:22) Our blood was tainted with sin. His, was not. So it was He, who paid our sin debt. He...who had done no wrong. No one made Him do it. Hevolunteered.

The Cat 'O' Nine Tails was a leather whip that has many knotted lashes on it. The lashes look like tails hanging down from the handle. On the end of those nine strands were pieces of metal. As the victim was flogged, it took nothing for the bits of metal to pierce the skin and the blunt force to break the ribs. Now times that by 40 lashes, and you have multiple breaks in each rib. It also ripped open the flesh on Jesus's back, exposing muscle and organs. It literally laid open, his back. Beaten, then a crown of thorns crushed into his head, mocking him as "King of the Jews". In all this pain, He was made to carry the cross that would bring his own death...but it wasn't that easy.

Imagine falling, as Jesus did...three times....with his hands tied to the beam he carried, he landed full force on all those broken ribs, his face, and chest. He was then lead up a hill called Golgatha, where they nailed His hands and feet to two posts, then raised him to be suspended between heaven and earth, for all to see. It was not even His sin he carried in His body, as He had no sin, being the perfect sacrifice and Son of God. It was your sins and mine, that hung Him to that tree.

It was not a fast death, by any means. The lashing Jesus suffered, and the broken ribs, caused blood to settle in his lungs, making it extremely difficult to breathe. So in order to even catch a breath of air, he had to brace himself on the nails that pierced his feet, and push his body up. According to Mark, one of Jesus's disciples, he endured the torment of crucifixion for some six hours from the third hour, at approximately 9 am, until his death at the 9th hour, corresponding to about 3 pm.

Jesus not only said He loves us... He proved it. And even though it was our sins that put him on the cross, he still called us his friends. Could you do that, if someone treated you this way? Near the end of his death, he looked up to His Father in heaven, and said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not, what they do!" His very last words were, "Father, into thine hands, I commend myself. It is finished!" Then he hung his head, and died...His mission to pay for our sins, accomplished. He is rightly and justly, our Mediator between God and man. Our free ticket to heaven. Free for us, but it cost Him, his life. If we want to accept his sacrifice as payment for our sins, we have but to tell him, and ask for his forgiveness of our sins. He turns no one away.

I think this might be a bit of a misdirected approach.
Generally speaking, it's not that atheists are down on Jesus or ignorant of the story...it's just that we don't buy the story.
We're not convinced that what the Bible says happened actually happed nor are we convinced of the divinity assigned to Jesus.

@Pikachu Pray for faith
@scrood

Tried it. Didn't happen.
If god is real then he doesn't want me to believe it lol.

@Pikachu YOU have to want it
@scrood

There have been times in my life when i wanted it desperately.
Didn't happen.
And even now if it's true then i want to know it.....still not happening.

@Pikachu It might take a while
@scrood Evidently.
@Pikachu it's not really misdirected because there are so many that turn him away and won't even stop to think about what he did for us but instead just ignore him and reject him, believing that he is out to get everyone and send them to hell. That is not Jesus's character at all.

Jesus promised that if we seek him, we will find him. You sound exactly like I felt when I was searching for Jesus. I had it all wrong on how to do that. I kept thinking to myself there must be something I have to do in order to earn this salvation and Heaven. I just couldn't get it through my thick head that it was free for the asking. I did this for years, trying so hard to please God and then hahaha when I found out that was not necessary and that I was already accepted by him, and that no amount of Good Deeds or works I could do, could save me, because salvation is not based on performance, it is based on God's promises! Man it took me years to figure that out hahaha but I never gave up! I just couldn't understand it. I know I walked down that church aisle to dedicate my life to Christ three times, but guess what? Nothing happened. Nothing at all. You know why? Because I didn't believe God that all it took was faith that he will keep his word to save me, and that was it. That was the key to Salvation. God did not want half my heart where one half was believing and the other doubted, he wanted me to fully trust him and when I did and fully committed to him, he knew I meant business that time! And then I Found Jesus to be so loving and accepting and not critical of me or judgmental of me. It was the best thing that ever happened to me and my whole life and still is. The key to Salvation is total commitment. Just like if you had a girlfriend and she only loved you a little bit or maybe halfway, you know how bad that would feel. That's not true love. God wants us to love him from our heart and soul. That way he knows we love him and we're willing to make that commitment because we do love him and believe him and have faith that he will keep his word and save us. Then he did just that on July 21st, 1973! Best day of my whole life and I'll never forget it. It's just like it happened yesterday. That is my spiritual birthday.

Here's the deal. Satan has lied to so many people who wanted so badly to be saved, and went through all the Motions of doing this and that to be saved, and truly wanted to make that full commitment. Here's the catch from Satan. These people were actually saved because they were willing to give God their all, in appreciation and gratitude for what he did for them on the cross. But guess what happened. Satan came along and placed doubt in their heart. Here's what he said: "Seeeee!!! I told you you're not saved! Nothing happened, did it?!! Didn't feel a thing did you? Well then see, you're not saved after all!! I TOLD you God is a liar!!"

But watch what God said about that: "Beloved, I kept my promise to you. You had that seed of faith, but you let Satan snatch it away, because you believed his lie, that it takes "feelings" to confirm that you are saved. Please go to my Word and read what I really said. I didn't say you are saved by feelings. I said you are saved by my promises, and you're believing in my promises, and taking me at My Word, and trusting me that I'm not lying to you. How can you trust me if you think I'm a liar? I am sinless. That means I am above sin or error. My Word is Truth. Pure Truth. I said we walk by faith, not sight! Because when we start believing in our feelings over what God promised us, that's not trusting and that's not having faith. If you trust me, then go only by my promises to save you and keep you saved. I cannot lie. I know you want me in your life and I want you in mine, even more. Do not ever listen to Satan's lies, but instead, believe me because I bought you for a price. That's how much I love you, that I gave my own life for you. So how do you come to me? You come to me exactly as you are, not needing to change a thing or do anything. I love you just as you are and I accept you into my family Just As You Are. There's no earning my love. That's impossible! My love for you is unconditional. So please just rest in me and my promises, believing I have saved you, as I have promised in my Word, not going by any kind of feelings, as feelings are fickle and change too much..... just rest in me, believing I have kept my word to save you, and I will. Also realize that it is not by your works or deeds that you have been given salvation. Salvation was given to you, because of my works on the cross FOR you. All you have to do is believe and I will never leave you nor forsake you. That's a promise. Please rest in it and I will show you great things and give you great things and blessings and all the love you want. I would never turn you away. Rest in me and let me do all the work of saving. I love you."
@LadyGrace

I think you'll find very few people you're posting to here who don't know at least the general story of Jesus so i think the problem here is that we cannot choose to be convinced by that which we find unconvincing. Can't be grateful for something we aren't convinced ever happened🤷‍♀️
@Pikachu That's what I thought too, but boy was I wrong. So many don't even know who Jesus is or why he came. I see that from their posts and replies. That is so sad. I couldn't believe there were so many that believed so many lies about God. It was staggering. Just knowing this story of Christ Jesus, leaves so much more to be learned. Remember, even Satan believes, but he's not saved and he's not going to heaven. So what we believe and why we believe it is so very important. But I understand what you're saying completely. And that is truth. But this is exactly why we have God's Word to read, so that we can know all these things and not have to guess.
