Don't Let Satan Twist God's Grace - When God Forgives Our Sins, He Remembers Them NO MORE. The Devil Can't Argue With That!
If I said I'm not a sinner, I would be lying to you. Unfortunately that is what we fight in this... sin of the flesh in whatever form it may take. From stealing, to adultery, to fornication, to lying, etc., this is the sin nature that we want to bring under submission. And with that I will tell you that I recently sinned and have repented. I have rededicated my life to the Lord.
When we sin, we defile the Temple of God (the Holy Spirit living in our bodies upon receiving Jesus as our Lord and Savior, for those who love and live for the Lord). I have repented but it still hurts. While I have not lost my salvation, but one of my rewards in heaven, I thank God for his Redeeming Grace and forgiveness. That's Redemption and Hope all rolled into one...for everyone.
Does every sin cost me an eternal reward?
Short answer: No.
Not every sin costs you a heavenly reward.
Here’s why:
1. Your salvation is safe — Jesus paid for ALL sin on the cross. Nothing can take that away. John 10:28
2. Rewards are about faithfulness — 1 Corinthians 3:15 says you can "suffer loss" of rewards but "the sinner himself will be saved." God looks at our heart and obedience, not just our mistakes.
When you repent, God forgives and restores you. He’s not keeping score to punish you.
Grace covers you. Keep walking with Him. ❤
That’s exactly why God chose me to write this. Because I’ve felt that hurt. I know what it’s like to sit in that heaviness and hear Satan saying "you’re done." And I don't want you to suffer that same condemnation from Satan, without your knowing the Bible says just the opposite. And so does Jesus.
That weight lifting? That pain easing? That’s forgiveness doing its work. Satan piles it on to crush you. Jesus lifts it off to heal you.
Matthew 11:28 — "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

You are not a bigger sinner than myself or anyone else. Trust me on that. But I thank God that He does not categorize sin because ALL sin is SIN in His eyes. One sin is no bigger than the other, because the fact is that all sin separates us from God, not salvation, but in Fellowship, until we repent and then we are brought back into the right standing and fellowship with him. That's why sin hurts us and Him so much...it separates us briefly from fellowship with him. No matter what the sin is, it still separates us in fellowship with Christ until we repent. To be clear, all sin separates us and puts us in need of the cross. God doesn’t grade sin on a curve. He doesn't look at once in being any bigger than the other. He doesn't categorize sin, like humans do.
The Book of Revelation confirms this, taught most clearly in 1 Corinthians 3:15: "If anyone's "work" is burned, he will suffer loss; but HE HIMSELF will be saved, yet so as through fire." HOLY SPIRIT fire, testing believer's works and motives in doing His will and works.
If you have sincerely repented, God has forgiven you according to His promise in 1 John 1:9, and lingering pain is often a normal part of emotional healing rather than a sign of unforgiveness.
Understanding Forgiveness and Pain
True forgiveness: God's grace completely covers your past when you turn to Him with a sincere heart.
Emotional scars: Regret and hurt can remain even after a wrong has been washed clean.
False guilt: Feeling like you are still condemned can sometimes be an unnecessary burden or discouragement, rather than the voice of God.
Perspective on Heavenly Rewards - Grace vs. Merits:
Eternal life and salvation are free gifts secured by Christ, not something earned by perfection.
Scripture teaches that God is able to restore and redeem our walk, and dwelling on lost potential can distract you from serving Him now, so be careful. God says, you messed up, but I still love you just as much as I always have! That's God's grace. That's how much God loves us... not wanting to keep tabs of all our wrongs.
God forgives your sin completely when you truly repent, and His grace is much greater than any lost reward.
It is normal to feel sad or hurt even after you say sorry to God. Your heart and your mind need time to heal after a fall.
Why It Still Hurts
The Healing Process:
Healing takes time. Feeling sad shows that your heart cares about doing right.
False guilt: Sometimes the enemy tries to make you feel bad even after God has already forgiven you.
The Body Remembers: Stress from guilt can stay in your mind and body for a little while. I really think that's a good thing because that keeps us on track and is a good reminder that we don't want to experience that again.
What the Bible Says About Forgiveness and Rewards
You are safe: If you put your trust in Jesus, your salvation is secure. God still loves you as His child. Just like the father or mother here on Earth do not disown their child though he or she may be disobedient. This is how deep the love of God runs for us, in his veins. We may remember our sins, but Jesus said when he forgives us that he remembers our sins no more. He's not wanting to look for fault in us. He's wanting nothing but to love us and save us from the condemnation that sin has brought upon us. And once that sin is forgiven by Jesus, it is remembered no more. John 3:17. That verse is about Jesus not coming to condemn the world, but to save it. We must close the door on the devil's twisting God's meaning of Grace....UN-EARNED favor from God.
My sin made me feel so sad. But that was a good lesson for me and I needed the reminder. And since God forgives me I can forgive myself but I sure know I don't want to repeat that. I thank God that his redeeming love covers my sins, but that does not give Christians a license to sin. Don't let the devil twist the power of God's grace and forgiveness! When we sin, that only gives us more opportunity and a longing to love the Lord even more!
I'm thankful we can pick ourselves right back up and show him just how much we do love him, and how that we do not want to repeat sin before Him, as we love him too much, and what He did for us on the cross. A repentant heart will not want to deliberately sin against their Lord and Savior. A repentant heart will run TO Jesus...not away from Him. If they don't, that is not true repentance, but using God as a scapegoat. And though those in Christ have had their sins forgiven and cannot lose their salvation, we do not want to bring shame and disgrace upon His sacrificial cross or our Savior.
Grace is a GIFT: Heaven is a gift from God's love, not just a list of scores or points.
New chances: Every day is a new chance to love God and do good things now.
What You Can Do Next
Accept His forgiveness: Believe that God meant what He said when He washed your slate clean.
Forgive yourself: Let go of the anger you hold against yourself. Forgive yourself just as God has.
Talk to someone: Share your burden with a kind pastor, counselor or a trusted friend.
You're forgiven. Get up and start again. Let's love him even more now.
Hebrews 8:12, says: "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."
That's a promise from God so we don't beat ourselves up and allow Satan to make us feel so guilty that we are no earthly good for the Lord in doing things for Him. Satan wants to do everything to make us feel guilty so we turn completely away from the Lord, but the Lord loves us, regardless of when we mess up and sin.
Psalm 103:12 states: "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us." What a beautiful promise of God! He keeps all his promises. He is a Promise Keeper.
Listen to the heart of God towards you:
Isaiah 1:18 — "Come now, let us reason together," says the Lord. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow."
Romans 8:35-39 - "Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
I leave you with a short prayer about God's mercy, and for peace of mind:
"Today, I thank you, Lord for your perfect love; that we can explore ways to move forward in our faith with a new beginning, and even more love and gratefulness to You that we can start over and love and serve You even better. Help us be ever mindful of the situation we find ourselves in, before we ever think of sinning. Help us be good stewards and be vigilant in protecting all that You have given us. Help us watch what we do and help us be on guard, so we do not sin and give in to the devil. Thank you for forgiving us of our sins. In Jesus' name I ask, Amen."
