I don't believe in god, but...people who are christians say they have a just god....

Sometimes you have to choose between kind and just....apparently that "god" felt being just was more important than showing kindness toward people. Kind of a bad god, huh?

No, because just leads to kindness.

@maskedbandit uh huh....tell that to someone who had their son lynched or spent their life in a concentration camp....how'd it work out for them.
maskedbandit · 61-69, M
@originnone What you are talking about isn't just. I'm speaking of what is morally right and fair.

@maskedbandit ok....but those things DID take place under his watchful eye....and most christians will tell you that these things happen because god is just....I know...I ask them.
maskedbandit · 61-69, M
@originnone Well, they are wrong. Those things happen because of people being unjust. God will not control your life for you. If he did what would be the purpose of putting us here in the first place. God is the only one who can pass judgement and that comes in the afterlife. Just and unjust.

@maskedbandit and...imho....the fact that he lets those things happen when he could stop them makes him cruel, unkind and evil. Who needs a devil when we have a god like this?
maskedbandit · 61-69, M
@originnone It's all about faith, but faith is not just in God. You can have faith in anything that helps you get through the day or life. Faith is what you believe and it's really personal unless you like sharing it with other people. Let's hope heaven is not this cruel. I have faith that it's not. 😅

@maskedbandit ....ok...that's.....something I can't argue with....pretty profound really....

@originnone 👍 🙂

@maskedbandit Yes, profound.

Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy; for thou renderest to every man according to his work.
— Psalm 62 v.12

The Christian preacher George MacDonald gave a great sermon on this, that mercy and justice were eventually one and the same.

@SW-User I'm certain it was a great sermon. He's wrong.

@originnone Ah! So certain! So be it.
originnone · 61-69, M
@SW-User I'm not certain about anything except that a loving god would not have let this happen to me. Of that, I am certain.
SW-User
@originnone I'm sorry for whatever situation you find yourself in, or those you love.

George MacDonald's sermon was concerned with final and "ultimate" things. That despite all evidence to the contrary, "all shall be well". It is a trust and faith that sustains me.

Again, I am a non-theist.
