Aggressive Evangelists

The christian evangelists have been busy harrassing people in town recently. Don't they realize their aggressive approach, insulting everyone who isn't their specific brand of christian, drives people away from christianity? Or it that their intention?

Your avatar seems aggressive.

@REMsleep When you're walking down the road and someone phyically stops you and start ranting on about their religion, what to you call it?

My avatar simply means christians aren't welcome in my life. What's aggressive about that?
REMsleep · 41-45, F
@Emosaur I don't belive in a 100% tolerant society. That type of society would be nuts.

Also is your ideology tit for tat he hit me so Ill hit him back?

Someone somewhere did something to someone like you so you must carry on the nonsense?

I don't get it brother.

@rob19 Well yup after your explanation I do confirm that your avatar is aggressive. I dislike tons of different types of people but I think its rude to effectively walk up to them and tell them that I don't want them in my life ( as your avatar does online).
Just go about your business no need to reach out and let people know that you don't want to talk to them.

Just my opinion.

What you call ranting another may call passion. I've had the clean energy people shout me down several times in Walmart about saving the environment and switching my electric provider but I wouldn't classify them as aggressive.

@Emosaur No one believes in a 100% tolerant society. That would be the end of society.
Must we tolerate racism, pedophilia, communisim, government seperatists, anarchists.
Society must have order and we cannot all just allow everyone to exsist as they choose. The society will break down.

Many studies have shown that open communication leads to greater collaboration ( society coming together)
Rather than mocking. And by definition you cannot correct any religious teaching for a religion that you don't believe in, follow, or subscribe to. You can try to change it ( not by mocking) but it wouldn't be a correction. That way of thinking is very arrogant.

Yet you appear to think physically preventing someone going about their lawful business is acceptable.

Do you consider restrictive road signs (similar to my avatar) aggressive? I don't go up to christians in the street and tell them they're not welcome but I do when they come onto my property to harrass me.

@REMsleep You know what keeps society from coming together? People pushing for laws based on their religion and intolerance in the name of a God.

@rob19 In this space ( SW) I would say that your avatar is rude and somewhat aggressive similar to if my avatar was a "No White People" sign. Its the same thing.
You have a right to prevent anyone from coming onto your property and on your property you can say whatever you want.

I have been approached in the street by various faiths including Bahai, Christian, Jehovas Witnesses, gun rights people holding guns, free Palestine people, clean energy people.

I have also been approached by animal rights actavists when I worked at a coffee shop ( they were against milk use).
They were the only group that stopped me from doing my tasks and they were very aggressive. They poured out all our milk on the floor.

I didn't find anyone else aggressive just because they spoke loudly ( which is a street style approach). I wasn't offended. I politely said no thanks and kept going paying little attention to what they said. No one touched me. Did they physically touch you or prevent you from walking on?

@PrincessOfHell Hmmm thats a different conversation.

In that case we'll have to agree to disagree. I'm certainly not going to change it. Would you agree that an avatar depicting a crucifix or other christian symbol is aggressive and offensive to non-christians?

I've never been approached in the street or on my doorstep by members of any religion other than christianity. I have been approached in the street by various campaign groups but they've all been very polite and have never tried to prevent me going about my business.

Did they physically touch you or prevent you from walking on?
Yes. In one case I had to call for police assistance.

@rob19 I know of some Pagans who had to request police attendance at a funeral because of threats from christians.
rob19 · M
@Sharon I know how aggressive and violent christians can be.
