Aggressive Evangelists

The christian evangelists have been busy harrassing people in town recently. Don't they realize their aggressive approach, insulting everyone who isn't their specific brand of christian, drives people away from christianity? Or it that their intention?

A cult needs a cause.
val70 · 51-55
@okaybut You mean a cult inside a religion?
rob19 · M
@val70 Christianity is a collection of cults.
val70 · 51-55
@rob19 That's your opinion. I have the right to differ
rob19 · M
@val70 I suspect we've had different experiences so have formed different opinions as a result. 👍
val70 · 51-55
@rob19 Thanks for that. I seem to get blocked atleast once a day at this rate. Wow! And I'm not even trying
rob19 · M
@val70 I presume you've been blocked by Carissimi. She hasn't blocked me - yet. I expect she will soon though. :)
val70 · 51-55
@rob19 Who is she? Some kind of wacko nun?
rob19 · M
@val70 A whacko something, not necessarily a nun - maybe a none-entity.
val70 · 51-55
@rob19 How long have you been on here? I've been blocked atleast once a day recently and it isn't me because I haven't changed
rob19 · M
@val70 I've been here on and off since 2017. I've been blocked by a few christians, usually after I ask them for evidence to support their BS claims.
val70 · 51-55
@rob19 I'd respond to that for sure, but I'd try to offer some facts too
rob19 · M
@val70 It's difficult to offer fact to support a non-belief, other than the fact there is no evidence to support the belief. As many people here have pointed out, christians repeatedly claim they can prove there god is rreal but, when asked to do so, they just respond with insults, never with any evidence.
val70 · 51-55
@rob19 I study theology, but I'm not attempt it here and now. In short, God's desire is that we love each other because it's only then that we love Him. Ultimately there's enough space for all. I was only defending the overtly gay and female priests being able to be part of the Anglican Church
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@val70 According to the Bible, sexual immorality is specifically forbidden. If you claim to believe in the Bible why do you ignore its rules from thousands of years ago?
val70 · 51-55
@Diotrephes I claim that I'm christian and that the Lord's words on the matter were these : “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea!" (Matthew 18:6)
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@val70 Remember Revelation 22:15 (ERV) = "15 Outside the city are all those who live like dogs—those who do evil magic, those who sin sexually, those who murder, those who worship idols, and those who love to lie and pretend to be good."

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (ERV) = "9-10 Surely you know that people who do wrong will not get to enjoy God’s kingdom. Don’t be fooled. These are the people who will not get to enjoy his kingdom: those who sin sexually, those who worship idols, those who commit adultery, men who let other men use them for sex or who have sex with other men, those who steal, those who are greedy, those who drink too much, those who abuse others with insults, and those who cheat."

1 Corinthians 5:9-13 (ERV) = "9 I wrote to you in my letter that you should not associate with people who sin sexually. 10 But I did not mean the people of this world. You would have to leave the world to get away from all the people who sin sexually, or who are greedy and cheat each other, or who worship idols. 11 I meant you must not associate with people who claim to be believers but continue to live in sin. Don’t even eat with a brother or sister who sins sexually, is greedy, worships idols, abuses others with insults, gets drunk, or cheats people.

12-13 It is not my business to judge those who are not part of the group of believers. God will judge them, but you must judge those who are part of your group. The Scriptures say, “Make the evil person leave your group.”

@Diotrephes They don't hold up against the Lord's own words recorded at the time when he was with us
rob19 · M
@val70
They don't hold up against the Lord's own words recorded at the time when he was with us
Where are those, authenticated, records? The earliest writings about Jesus I'm aware of were made several decades after he was said to have lived.
val70 · 51-55
@rob19 Try the Dead Sea scrolls 😀
rob19 · M
@val70 What about them?
val70 · 51-55
@rob19 Look it up. You want to challenge either doctrine or evidence gathered over centuries. The ordinary though verbally transmitted accounts being also written down records there for that last point. Or do you want me to send a link to the Vatican archives? Perhaps you can visit them like I did once 😀
val70 · 51-55
@val70 Here a good intro that world:
@rob19 Sone Christian groups are cults or cultlike, but not all of them.
