Thinking about walking away

This is my personal feelings and my personal experiences with Christianity and the church. Been thinking about walking away from Christianity, for quite some time. I still believe there is a God, and I’m still a spiritual person. I don’t go to church anymore, for reasons being that I don’t believe in being a part of something that does not accept me, or other people, even when they have “welcome all” signs up. I don’t want to be somewhere that is a constant reminder of when I was molested as a child. Church doesn’t and never have, given me that comfort, that I always wanted. I’ve been to churches where I was judged for being disabled. I’ve been to churches where I’ve experienced racism. I have searched and searched, and thought I found the perfect church, then a guy, kept bothering me and wouldn’t leave me alone, so I left and never looked back. I see church as just a building. A building that doesn’t want me there anyway. I don’t feel bad about walking away. In fact, it’s the opposite. Because I can freely have a personal and spiritual relationship with God, and be at peace with that. I can’t really say that I “dislike” Christianity, I just feel like it’s just not for me.

When will people realize Christianity is about ones dealings and response to The LORD Jesus and should never be primarily about ones dealings and responses to other people in churches...

If you have been searching for your perfect churchianity religion and have not found it then that surprises me NOT..

I have been a strong Christian for over 30 years and i have never been a member of a church.. I don't follow people, i don't worship people.. Christianity is not about preachers pastors and popes.. It is about GOD and His will and ones personal response to Him...

So many times i read posts like yours.. This church member or that church hierarchy did me wrong and so i am abandoning Christianity.. It's frustrating.. Because i know that person has never known what Christianity really is.. They have only known what churches are and how humans fail each other..

Humans failing each other and letting God down should be no surprise to anyone on this earth..

@Adstar Some Christians are still babes in their faith so I completely get why they make decisions about their relationship with God based on what church members do.

@Adstar as a child, I was told, by the pastor, that if I didn’t go to church, then I was going to hell. The same church I was molested in. I get that Christianity is about having a personal relationship with God, and have used those same practices for years, and to where I’ve not been to a church in years. You can have a relationship with God and still be spiritual, which is something I prefer. Calling myself “Christian” just doesn’t feel right for me.

Yep you where mislead.. that's for sure..
The same church I was molested in
That's a tragedy but i am not surprised.. God gives false witnesses to his will over to a debased mind and they start to engage in all kinds of deviant destructive behavours..
Calling myself “Christian” just doesn’t feel right for me.
I can understand why.. But i do not give the name Christian over to those who have dishonored it.. It's my identifier and i am not going to give it up to liars and perverts in false cult churches..

I hope you have overcome your terrible experience,, being molested does often cause a lot of personal and relationship problems later on in life.. May the LORD give you the strength and peace of mind to overcome the crime that was committed against you..
