Should a true Christian celebrate Christmas?

Why or why not?

No. And because they actually took over the winter solstice holiday.

If they believe the bible is true then they should know that Jesus had to have been born in the spring by that very book.

Anything less means they don't believe in the bible themselves! Or they believe in lying!
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@DeWayfarer From a religious pov, it's irrelevant when Jesus was born because the date is not what the ritual is about. The ritual is about observing the 4th Commandment and bring gifts to God (Jesus, the king of the Jews, recognized by the wise men = Matthew 2:11)
Matthew 2:11 (CEB)= "They entered the house and saw the child with Mary his mother. Falling to their knees, they honored him. Then they opened their treasure chests and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh."

Remember, the wise men were not there when Jesus was born. They arrived some unspecified time later. He could have been 11 months old or even older.

So, the purpose is not to worship the day but to observe the ritual as if you are actually appearing before the God character or Jesus, the king of the Jews. You can do it tomorrow, or March 14, or September 11, as long as you bring gifts.

@Diotrephes the ritual though is a lie!

You can not get around that! It makes the bible itself lying!

It either says the truth or not! No in between.

If you lie about one thing that puts into question EVERYTHING!

So quoting the bible is meaningless!
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@DeWayfarer Can you be specific as to what you disagree with?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Diotrephes Christmas is a lie! No need to be more specific! 🤣

I refuse to go down the bible rabbit hole!

Live in your Alice in wonderland hole that the bible is. No LSD addict is any different.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@DeWayfarer OK, if you are incapable of expressing your opinions in writing in a rational manner.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Diotrephes bible references are not intelligent!

You're living in denial! Just like any LSD addict or alcoholic.

You need to be cured of the bible addiction to be intelligent.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@DeWayfarer As I wrote, the Christmas ritual is just an oblique observance of the 4th Commandment, which specifies that people are supposed to bring gifts to God when they appear before him. The wise men did that when they visited baby Jesus. They were showing that they recognized him as the king of the Jews. The day itself is not a legitimate biblical holiday as mentioned in the Ten Commandments.

Remember what Paul said in Colossians 2:16 (NKJV) =
"So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths,"
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Diotrephes I quote:
Matthew 2:11 (CEB)=

Colossians 2:16 (NKJV) =
That's an addiction!

I won't go down that rabbit whole! It's not intelligence. It's an addiction.

You simply cannot reason with ANY kind of addict.

@DeWayfarer One of the objectives for participating on internet forums should be to expose yourself to new ideas and to develop your ability to convincingly express your own opinions.

In this particular instance, the story tellers and writers used the birth of Jesus to illustrate the 4th Commandment. So, they had the wise men travel a great distance and bring gifts to baby Jesus to acknowledge him as the king of the Jews. If you notice how the story flows it starts with that scene and ends with a sign above him when he is nailed to the cross.

Matthew 27:37 (NKJV) = "37 And they put up over His head the accusation written against Him:

THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS."

Now, does that make any of it true? Of course it doesn't. But when you read the fairytale it provides you and excellent opportunity to develop your analytical skills and to see how all of the elements are knitted together.

Once result of the story is that people created a holiday season where they obliquely observe the 4th Commandment ritual although they may not have a clue as to why they do what they do. As I've written before, the date is irrelevant. People observe the ritual every time they go to church and put money in the plate. However, the Christmas ritual is more in line with what the wise men did when they went to visit toddler Jesus and brought him gifts as recognition that he was the king of the Jews.

So, if you don't want to celebrate Christmas, who cares? I don't celebrate it either but I do understand how it became part of our lives. We have been brainwashed.

@Diotrephes your only proving my point. You can not stop pushing bible quotes. Therefore you just can not reason. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You're an addict! Addicts are often in denial.

I truly pitty your addiction. Yet there simply is no reasoning with you. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@Diotrephes I never said how I feel. You are the one that replied to me.

So on top of not reasoning, you make false assumptions about me. 😅

@DeWayfarer I truly pitty your addiction. Yet there simply is no reasoning with you, and yet you continue to contradict yourself by continuing the conversation.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Zeusdelight oh so it's a troll party now. Can't leave a single person alone! Must troll in groups! 🤣

This IS my reply you're trolling on!
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer Well how exciting. I thought you had gone and your party had finished. It continues!!
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Zeusdelight I could be wrong. I believe the other has stopped for the night. Yet you wish to continue the trolling. 😅

Tag teaming doesn't matter to me. I have continued for weeks before! So they even eventually were banned!
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer I am so sorry you misunderstood. I was referring to your troll party that you started ages ago and continue now.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Zeusdelight I rarely troll anymore. Haven't for years. Yet I admit I have trolled with the best decades ago.

So I know a troll when I am pushed by one! 😊
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@DeWayfarer You should read your comments more, habits die hard.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Zeusdelight I'm actually constantly rereading my own comments, if you haven't noticed. And always correcting my own mistakes! Even on this very thread! 🤣

@DeWayfarer Editing is a wonderful talent, however, it usually does not help in understanding the sense of the entire thread.
