Why do christians so often make out like homosexuality is some huge sin? More terrible than any other? I mean let's accept that it's sinful because the book says so, but why such an intense reaction while other sins are just glossed over?

There is nothing of substance when it comes to homosexuality in the new testament. Most of our modern biblical texts are rife with incorrect translations, this article sums things up very well.
