I Am Christian

I am not a Christian, but spiritual. When my baby was born, he had some health problems. I brought him to this doctor, that was very religious. The visits were horrible. He used his personal religious beliefs, in caring for my baby. The doctor didn’t even bother to listen to my feelings. He brushed everything off and ignored me. Everything him telling me what to do and what God would’ve wanted. Even when I explained serious medical stuff, his response was “pray about it”. His beliefs were not mine and it really upset me that this doctor would force his beliefs down my throat, and use my baby’s health to do it. Well I stopped seeing him. After two visits. If I had known he would be that way, I never would’ve taken my baby to see him. It would’ve been just one visit instead of two, but was finding another doctor in the meantime.

Mind you, I don’t care about what someone believes or don’t believe, as long as they don’t force it on me or my kids. Plus I don’t need anybody to tell me what my beliefs need to be, when it’s between me and God. He could’ve really done more harm than good, if I had continued seeing him. Just glad I got out in time.

I'd say "God helps those who help themselves. And since a baby can't help itself, it's YOUR turn to do so.". Seriously, how can a doctor be that fatalistic is beyond me. Why did he even become a doctor if by praying you can heal sickness? He doesn't even have respect for himself, let alone his patients. I hope you and your baby are in good hands now :)

@HannibalAteMeOutyes, we are both doing great. I found a better doctor.

good to hear that.
That's horrible, I hate seeing stories of parents praying for sick kids instead of taking them to doctors, the kids end up dying because parents didn't do anything. It's terrifying to hear that doctors are acting like this, he should be fired.

@EllieTheKittyKat I agree. I think somewhere it is written where that goes against patients rights.
@NaturalBeautyQueen it must be, a hospital is no place for religion.
NaturalBeautyQueen · 41-45, F
@EllieTheKittyKat it’s not. Especially when you ask to keep that separate. If he can’t keep his beliefs separate from his practice, when asked by the patient, then he don’t need to be a doctor.

Too bad you didn't get to know the doctor better. He might have seen things you can not imagine. A doctor friend of mine became a Christian after he witnessed what he said was a miracle on the operating table. I am not doctor enough to know if what he said is a miracle or not but the patient died and then came back to life.

@hippyjoe1955 did you not read my post? I don’t care about how he did it, he did it. I had witnesses there with me as well, who felt the same way I did. I’m not sorry about not seeing him, because my baby have a much better doctor. And thanks to that doctor, my kid is more happy and healthy.

@NaturalBeautyQueen Sounds like you didn't like what he had to say more than he forced anything on you. Doesn't surprise me. People seldom like hearing the truth.
NaturalBeautyQueen · 41-45, F
@hippyjoe1955 What truth? So since you were there, what was this guy’s religion? Because Christianity is not a religion. It’s a relationship.

I don't think medical science and Religion mix, people just blur the lines.
NaturalBeautyQueen · 41-45, F
@SwarmSona me either.
Uncfred · 61-69, M
The child's health comes first, religion is a belief while health is reality.
NaturalBeautyQueen · 41-45, F
@Uncfred very true

Aren't there an authority you can tell about that doctor so that he gets punished?
NaturalBeautyQueen · 41-45, F
@SW-User from a legal standpoint, I don’t even know what they could do about it. Just glad that I stopped seeing him and found somebody better for my baby.
