I Am Christian

I consider myself a christian, but sometimes I wonder just what kind of christian I am. I was part of a fundementalist denomination for many years, but found that I was frustrated when they ignored my husband and daughter (both disabled). I’m just so tired of it all though. Some of the meanest people I’ve met call themselves Christian. The nicest, most inclusive people I’ve met don’t consider themselves christian at all.

I miss some it though. The people to talk to, some of the friends I made. Anyone else feel like that?

[c=#4C0073]there is something a Prophet said once - "When seeking God and His religion, look not to the people that claim to be (of His religion), but look to His words, and in your own heart".[/c]

You just have to find the right church. Don't judge Christianity by Christians. Some of us aren't so bad.

I grew up in a fundamentalist church, but when I was about 30 I realized that the church was mainly an ego trip for the pastors, and that the infallible Bible that it was based on wasn't quite infallible... Then I started reading histories of the church and Christianity, and discovered some of the most despicable things imaginable.. so I'm done with it all...
I'm not exactly an atheist, though, but my definition of "God" is somewhat different to most people's...
I have never experienced that ... I have always found assurance, acceptance and blessings at churches ... of many denominations ... and synagogues

Guess I have been very fortunate
@Broadwaygeek67 I come across people all the time that mean well ... but can not communicate.

That is when I open my heart to what they intend ... not, what they say

@questionWeaver interesting comment. I guess that can be difficut sometimes. I find the intent is sometimes worse than what they say
@Broadwaygeek67 I have found ... if they have faith in their heart, it shows clearly

If they are have faith, then I know their intent is good.

If they are not firm in faith ... regardless of what they say I can forgive and provide an example of firm faith in return.

Bottomline ... the high ground is always dry

I went to church several years ago. First time in many years. I enjoyed the singing, but the well dressed families with bored kids, just there to be seen, was wrankling
