I Am Christian

Answer honestly…

- Can you recite the plot and even some lines from your favorite movies?
- Do you gladly plop down money to buy a new phone, app, game or something else you want?
- Do you somehow manage to set aside a few hours to pursue your own interests despite having a very busy schedule?
- If your favorite movie actor came to your house for dinner would you serve them leftovers?

You’re probably thinking that these are ‘duh’ questions. Why, I’m willing to bet you can recite several movies that you’ve seen - including some of the dialog. Since most people work hard for their money they deserve to buy a few indulgences now and then. After a hectic work day, everyone needs to have a few hours to do what they like. And no one in their right mind would serve their favorite movie actor old leftover lima bean casserole. That’d be rude.

Ok, now let me rephrase those questions a bit. (Remember, answer honestly)

- Do you know more than just a couple of popular verses of God’s Word?
- Do you begrudgingly drop a few coins in the collection plate at church?
- Do you set aside a minute or two each day to read your bible and/or pray?
- If God came to your house for dinner, would you serve Him old leftovers you found in the back of your fridge?
…………

It’s amazing how a person can know all about a song or a movie and yet know so little about God’s Word. Can a movie tell you how to live? Can a song show you the way to heaven? So many people get so wrapped up in obtaining the fleeting things this world offers that they short change God. They take the best for themselves and give God what’s ‘leftover’.

***
Leftovers are such humble things,
We wouldn’t serve them to a guest
And yet we serve them to our Lord
Who deserves the very best.

We give Him leftover time,
Stray minutes here and there,
Leftover cash we give to Him
Such few coins as we can spare.

We give our youth unto the world
To hatred, lust and strife;
Then in declining years we give
To Him the remnant of our life.

***

God gave you the very best of heaven – without hesitation. Are you giving God your best?
Or are you simply giving Him your leftovers?

Lord, I pray for the unbelivers, that you would touch their heart, and help them to understand, amen.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@Silverwings As there are unbelievers, it's clear your prayers are going unanswered. Why do you think that is? Could it be that there is no god to answer them?
shuhak · M
@suzie1960 Interesting how some so-called atheists go around demanding that no one push their "foolish religion" on them. Yet these very people troll around groups where they know people are who disagree with them, and try to push their atheism on them.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@shuhak What's wrong with simply asking a question? Can't you just answer it?
Sharon · F
@suzie1960 Don't expect a reasonable answer from anyone so blinded by faith.
shuhak · M
@suzie1960 You didn't "ask" a question, you tossed out bait. I've read your profile and many of the "comments" you've posted on SW. You aren't asking questions, you're doing the same thing you claim you hate - trying to force your beliefs onto others. You join religious groups only to harass those who post there.
You may be anything you wish - atheist, nihilist religious.. whatever. But when you purposely go around imposing your "beliefs" on others, you're doing exactly what you claim you hate about them.
End Of Discussion.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@shuhak Run away if you like, it only shows how weak your argument is. I asked a simple question, the fact that you can't or won't answer it doesn't invalidate it, however much you hope it does.

I made a statement of fact, there are unbelievers so Silverwings' prayers are obviously going unanswered. I then offered a possible explanation for that. I would ask if you had a better explanation but you've already ended this discussion.
Silverwings · 61-69, F
@suzie1960 No Suzie, I know that there is a God, because he lives in my heart. He will never force anyone to come to him, that is purely up to each individual, so, yes, there will always be unbelievers, until everything wraps up, but I am praying for those who will turn and make things right with their God.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@Silverwings That doesn't answer the question. Why aren't your prayers being answered? Maybe others have made things right with their god(s), just not with yours.
Silverwings · 61-69, F
@suzie1960 NO I know that there is a God, and it is my job to pray for others.
Silverwings · 61-69, F
@suzie1960 There is only One God, that reigns supreme, all the others are man made!!
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@Silverwings That's what all believers say, they just can't agree which is the real one. The only argument I've heard in respect of the "true god" or "ultimate creator" that made any sense to me was put forward by a Pagan High Priest.
Silverwings · 61-69, F
All believers believe in the one true God, the God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob, the Great I AM , the Everlasting Father, the Alpha & Omega, the begining and the end, the Rose of Sharon, Jehovah Jirah , Jesus.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@Silverwings NO. Only some people believe in that god. Other sincere believers believe in other gods and goddesses whom they acknowledge as the true ones. Their beliefs are no less valid than yours.
Silverwings · 61-69, F
The God that I serve is the only one that came back from the dead in three days, just like he said, he rose again and is seated at the right hand of the Father, making intercession for the believers. He is the only way into Heaven, his name is Jesus, it you do not change your mind and humble yourself one day it will be too late, and you will find yourself standing in judgement, and God will say to you, depart from me, I NEVER KNEW YOU!! those are the saddest words that you will ever hear, because at that time you will understand that you rejected the offer of eternal life, to choose your own way.
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@Silverwings Odin came back from the dead in 7 days and now reigns in Valhalla. An Odinist could say if you do not change your mind and humble yourself one day it will be too late. You will find yourself being denied entry to Valhalla as Odin says "BEGONE, I NEVER KNEW YOU!!" Equally those will be the saddest words that you will ever hear, because at that time you will understand that you rejected the offer of eternal life, to choose your own way. As I see it, there is no reason for me to give greater credence to what you say than to what an Odinist (for example) says.
Silverwings · 61-69, F
@suzie1960 People on the contrary are still getting saved, you are just not aware of it, Gods work never stops.
Sharon · F
@Silverwings Saved from what? I'm not aware of anything to suggest the specific christian god exists.
Silverwings · 61-69, F
@Sharon If you are interested in going to the place you refuse to admit is real - Heaven, then it is essential that you be saved.
Sharon · F
@Silverwings As I don't believe it exists, I have no interest in going there. Valhalla or Sto'Vo'Kor sound much more interesting.
Silverwings · 61-69, F
@Sharon It is your choice, but you can't say you have not been invited.
Sharon · F
@Silverwings
you can't say you have not been invited.
Then I decline. Even if heaven did exist, I would not want to spend eternity surrounded by pontificating, sanctimonious, backbiting and backstabbing christians like I frequently encounter here.
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@Sharon & that bloody music!!! 🤦‍♀️
Silverwings · 61-69, F
@Sharon I hate to bust your bubble but those people will not be there, only the pure in heart see God, and no sin will enter heaven.
Sharon · F
@Silverwings
I hate to bust your bubble but those people will not be there,
I hope for your sake you're right. You might be safe either way though as they're convinced they'll be the only ones there. I'll have a word with Odin, He might let you into Valhalla. Or perhaps you'd prefer Freyja's field Fólkvangr.
Silverwings · 61-69, F
@Sharon I have absolutely no desire to know anything about mythology.
