GOD DIDN’T MAKE HELL FOR US. HE MADE A WAY OUT.
Have you ever stopped to think about that?
Jesus tells us that hell was “prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41). Yet because God is holy and just, sin cannot simply be ignored. There is a real judgment for sin. There is also HOPE and RESCUE.
Just like our earthly judges must not ignore sins of crime, and must provide justice, they are "just" in doing so. Murders cannot get away with murder, etc.... same applies to spiritual laws. Sin must be judged. Yet Jesus did not come to condemn us. His whole purpose and Mission was to save us from the condemnation that our sins placed on us.
Do not let Satan lie to you. God didn’t create you because He wanted to condemn you. Never! Wasn't even on his mind, but we have to remember that God is not the only influence in this world:
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" is found in Ephesians 6:12
This refers to Satan and his demons, whom were kicked out of heaven for trying to take God's place. Pure evil. This is what we fight against, but Jesus helped us get the victory through Him, as we trust in Him to save our souls. John 3:16
Ephesians 6:12 is part of a passage about spiritual warfare, where the Apostle Paul urges believers to put on the "whole armour of God" ( I'll post about that later) to stand against spiritual opposition. Putting on the whole armor of God, means actively relying on God's spiritual strengths and truths to protect yourself against temptation and wrongdoing.
But here is what God never wants us to miss:
God made a way out.
He didn't look down at a sinful and broken world and say, “You made your choice. Now you're on your own.”
Thank God, No!
He came for us. Jesus came to pay for our sins on the cross. He took our sins upon Himself and willingly went to the cross in our place.
Why?
Because God loved us.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” - John 3:16
We could never make ourselves good enough to stand before a holy God. We could never pay the debt of our own sin, as only a pure, sinless (* see footnote at end) sacrifice can pay for our sins, for which Jesus, being without sin, volunteered and provided that. God provided what we could never provide for ourselves:
Grace.
Forgiveness.
Redemption.
A Savior.
Jesus.
That is why the Gospel is called “good news.”
The good news isn't that sin doesn't matter. It does.
The good news is that Jesus paid the price for it.
The good news isn't that we can save ourselves.
The good news is that we don't have to.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” — Ephesians 2:8
Think about that.
A way out.
Not a way we built.
Not a way we earned.
Not a way we deserved.
A way God made.
Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” - John 14:6
So when you hear the word “hell,” don't let that be the end of the message.
Remember the cross.
Remember God's mercy.
Remember His grace.
Remember that He didn't leave us without hope.
He made a way where there seemed to be no way of escape. And that Way has a name. Jesus. He is my Lord, Rescuer, and Savior. He invites all to come to Him for salvation.
If you have never trusted Him as your Savior, you can come to Him today. You don't have to clean yourself up first. You don't have to become worthy first. Just come as you are.
His grace is greater than your sin.
His mercy is greater than your past.
And His love is greater than you could ever imagine.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” - Romans 10:13
This verse comes directly from the Bible...
2 Corinthians 6:2 passage, where the Apostle Paul quotes Isaiah 49:8 to urge spiritual readiness and immediate response to God's grace.
Jesus wants us to think about these things today, because today is the day of salvation.
