What Bible verse states they are asleep?

We shall recieve new bodies at the rapture.. Not our current corruptable bodies..

We need new bodies because we shall inherit the New Earth because the New Jerusalem will come out of Heaven and down to earth and we shall live their with the LORD Jesus forever and ever..

We are judged by God after all people are reasurected and stand before Him..

There are many interpretations of what take place. I believe that you become immortal when you become born again. You have passed from death to life. When your body dies you take on your heavenly body in the "twinkling of an eye". You don't sleep nor does any time pass before you take on that new form. If you are not born again you are already judged so the judgement took place before not after your body physically dies.

these earthly bodies will not be resurrected, once these bodies die our spirits go back to God who gave them and we wait, asleep until judgment begins. We will have new bodies as written in 2nd Corinthians

We have a natural body which is this flesh and a spiritual body and it is the spiritual body that will be raised 1st Corinthians 15:44

And there are those that have taught and teach that these old bodies will be resurrected, but scripture tells us differently.

Asleep is just a figurative term for death and it's earthly appearance, the Bible makes abundantly clear after death the soul goes to heaven or hell depending on whether someone has accepted Christ, so we stand before Christ at death- question 2.

Question 1- Heaven is the place where we go now as saved Christians, on Christ's return it's the new earth.

Oh and the rapture is a doctrine made up in the 1800s- as the creed rightly says before Christ comes "He will come to judge the living and the dead".

After resurrection, is the way I understand it.

The bodies are asleep but not the soul.. the soul departs to another realm

Idk there’s supposed to be an earthly kingdom too for awhile
