Matthew 21:22 and tragedy

Prayer during a moment of real tragedy like on 9/11 can be seen as indeed valid due to its role in providing comfort, offering a sense of control, and connecting individuals to a higher power during times of crisis. It serves as a way for people to express grief, seek solace, and find meaning in the face of immense suffering and loss. Disrespecting that deep human emotion is about the most vile offense anyone can do to another.

While some may question the efficacy of prayer in preventing or altering events, its psychological and emotional benefits are widely recognized. Moreover, Matthew 21:22 still resonates with many Christians because it emphasizes the power of faith and belief in prayer. The verse highlights that genuine belief, not just asking, is crucial when communicating with God. It encourages believers to approach prayer with confidence, believing that their faith can lead to tangible outcomes

Apparently he was taking a nap on 9/11. I’m fairly certain people prayed in their thousands.

But nothing happened.

@CGS1984 That's something that is not called for. You don't even know if I prayed that day for someone's safety. That she was safe that day. No, that's not called for

@val70 So now you’re deleting points have no answer for.

How very Christian of you.

@CGS1984 I'm shaking off the dust from my feet, and that's indeed very Christian of me. You showed me no respect for my own experience on that day. Do your own postings. This is mine

@CGS1984 I doubt you would ever recognize anything you need to see to believe.

When we lose loved ones, it's only tragic for the survivors. Whether you believe in an afterlife or not, you have to admit that the dead are done suffering and even if they leave behind kids who depend on them, their worries are over.

If there is an afterlife of eternal peace, compared to eternity, a lifetime is less than a drop in a bucket, so maybe God doesn't interfere with tragedies like 9/11 because God knows they will all be happy when they get to heaven. Maybe 9/11 needed to occur to shed bad light on something that rhyms with "his mom." (Cant be too safe these days😉)

I understand why people question religion. I've got many questions myself. I notice a lot of conflicting info and the answers I get are usually along the lines of "have faith."

Religious people are some of the nicest people with kind hearts. I take any advice I get from anyone with a grain of salt. Eventhough I don't really believe a lot of what I've heard or read in any religious publications, I still like to hear them and i like to hear things from their perspective.

I think most of the stories are metaphors that were used to help shape Society in a positive way. And I think it's wrong to try to talk them out of their religion without anything else to replace it with. Anyone who thanks religion will one day be abolished is in for a very long wait. I don't think there has ever been a civilized society that didn't have a religion

My op Shader campaign medal says otherwise. If religious people were so peaceful I wouldn’t have spent a year away from my family in Akrotiri.

@CGS1984 nice humble brag . What's Operation Shader? Where was it? What religion is written on your dog tags? Whatever your experience was doesn't change the fact that some of the nicest people are religious. You just used that part of my comment so you could slip in that humble brag. It's ok. You deserve to feel that pride. I still feel proud about my status as a combat veteran too.

I deployed with dog tags that said no pref for religion. I spent hours upon hours debating our chaplain when he'd chase me down after his services that me and most of my platoon would never attend. When I would get tired of his pitching, I'd say i had to do something vulgar and guide him out of my tent.

I had paid too high a price over the years to give in to that guy. Since then, I have come to an understanding and I've created some scenarios that make sense enough to warrant some of the stories that seem to be impossible. Like Adam and Eve. It is a simple origin story that explains why were here and why there's a cycle of life. Evolution is only a theory. If it ever becomes a law, it still wasn't discovered until 1859. Something had to explain us.

@Jayciedubb I mean, the people who carried out the 9/11 attacks were very religious.
