I Believe The Bible Is An Adult Fiction Book

Pretty poor fiction at that but a lot of sad people are taken in by it.

It's not quite all pure "fiction", like a novel. It's a bit more subtle than that.

It's basically an anthology of a particular society's beliefs, myths and self-view of its history, from some 2000 - 3000 years ago, in one relatively small region of the Middle East, from its own Late Bronze Age tribalism to Romano-Judaic times.

And apart from the proselytising to neighbouring countries in the New Testament it was written for that society alone, by men who could not possibly have imagined what the rest of the world was like then, let alone what it would be like 2000+ years hence.

Just as we can't imagine life will be like in two millennia's time.

Sadly, the rabidly evangelising seem to want the best of both worlds: modern conveniences but a society based on that of Moses' ideas he liked to kid his fellow tribes-people were written by their god.
