I Believe The Bible Is An Adult Fiction Book

It was written by people, not god, and was to help explain the world around them and explain where they came from. I believe it evolved when those in charge realized they needed more control over the population, so it became more and more absurd. If you can convince the uneducated and superstitious that there is someone who will come back one day, change their dirty water into drinkable wine, and feed them by, not sure, snapping his fingers(?) then you have your control.
