Many seem unaware of the messages of hospitality and compassion to foreigners. Those hoping for support for xenophobia from the Gospels will be disappointed. Just as in the book of Acts it's described how the early Christian community sold their private property, sharing and dividing everything according to need, and living a very communitarian life. These are some core messages and ideas that are often ignored and denied today.
emiliya · 26-30, F
@Nate931 The apostles have no community. Only God.

It is you who understand not.
@Nate931 For what it's worth, you are correct in this exchange on the early Christians.

@Nate931 Believers and Gentiles have never been buddies =

3 John 1:5-8 (CEB) = " Dear friend, you act faithfully in whatever you do for our brothers and sisters, even though they are strangers. 6 They spoke highly of your love in front of the church. You all would do well to provide for their journey in a way that honors God, 7 because they left on their journey for the sake of Jesus Christ without accepting any support from the Gentiles. 8 Therefore, we ought to help people like this so that we can be coworkers with the truth."

Welcome and embrace them.

In fact he had harsh judgement for those who do not.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow But be sure to hate your family members and yourself.

Jesus exhorted his followers to welcome strangers. The message is crystal clear.
MarineBob · 61-69, M
@SunshineGirl and yet today his followers still lock their doors
kodiac · 26-30, M
@SunshineGirl even if they want to cut off your head?

That is clearly said in the Bible in multiple verses. Look it up.

The verbiage in the various translations differs so the word "immigrant" is not found. Instead it says "sojourner", "traveler", "alien"...............

A few examples........

Deuteronomy 10:18 – “God loves the strangers” (gerim).

Leviticus 19:34 – “The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born” (nokri).

Exodus 22:21 – “Do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner” (nokri).

Hebrews 13:2 – “Keep your hospitality, for strangers are guests of God” (gerim).

@emiliya are you bob Dylan?

@Kypro I am Dylan Bob.
emiliya · 26-30, F
@Kypro Are you Shabtai Zisel ben Avraham, also known as Robert Allen Zimmerman?
frugalhermit · 56-60, M
actually he was quite strongly opinionated against criminal acts, abuse, political power, deceit, etc.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@frugalhermit That was the story told by the Jews who developed the Christian Bible.
Kypro · 46-50, M
@sree251 were you there?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Kypro
were you there?

What are you talking about? Please be clear and specific. We are not two guys who grew up together in the same cowboy town. The trouble with you hicks is that you assume the internet-connected world extends no further than the neck of your woods.
Adrift · 61-69, F
If you play nice with the natives that live there, then stay in your own backyard.

@BohoBabe Will your internal carotid artery now transect and spurt blood? And your jugular vein lacerate and soak us all?
BohoBabe · M
@emiliya No, because I don't lose debates like a beeeeeta!
Let's be real. If the Evangelicals are right we will never know because Jesus would be disappeared in an ICE concentration camp.
Munumbis · 46-50, M
Probably tell them to stop ruining their countries with crime and corruption instead of trying to leach off their neighbors.
Munumbis · 46-50, M
@Kypro No the point was to argue with Christians about how Jesus would let all the rapefugees in out of godly compassion. You didn't get the answer you wanted so now you don't like it.
anythingoes477 · 31-35, M
@Munumbis Oh you mean like all of the kids trump raped??

You don't even need the New Testament to make an educated guess at what Jesus would say. If you read the Old Testament, and consider the values of the ancient world, Israel's neighbours were probably all laughing at them for being SJWs of the middle east
emiliya · 26-30, F
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP The Jew emerged after the Bronze Age and was new to the peoples of the Middle East and Mediterranean. He crushed Canaan and did everything not to be one of them. What are you talking about?
Kypro · 46-50, M
@emiliya I was talking about the nt more and what Jesus thought. https://sojo.net/22-bible-verses-welcoming-immigrants
emiliya · 26-30, F
@Kypro Satan has run rampant and stomped out good. We are nearing the end. It may even be too late for you to find a young lover who will lactate for you. What will you do, get on your knees and pray that she comes? What will God make of that prayer?

I have no reason to believe that you are hiding unpleasant attitudes and take your point in good faith while disagreeing with it.

Ain't you the consummate politician?
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@sree251 Is that an insult or a compliment? 😄 I'd settle for 'diplomat'.
