Is belief a choice? Do Atheists CHOOSE not to believe in god?

I say that you don't CHOOSE to be an atheist any more than you CHOOSE that you don't believe in Santa Claus.

Ok I really didn’t want to reveal this on here but. I’m Santa. I really am Santa. Of course I believe in Santa. I’m him. Do you believe in Santa now? And I know you’ve been naughty 🎅🏻
@gregloa

lol yeah, thought not. Thanks for proving my point.
I hope one day you'll manage to be honest instead of a slave to your ego but....that was

Your beliefs and your behaviors are your choice.
@Prince0217

I agree with the latter but not the former.

How does one make the choice to believe something by which they are not convinced?
One might make the choice to behave as if one believes that proposition but how does one actually decide to believe something?

Would you like to test that claim?

If something is decided and/ or forced on you, then it’s not a choice. Meaning you didn’t have a choice in the matter.

You have a choice not to believe in something regardless of whether you are convinced or not convinced.

You even have a choice to discuss the matter with a certain someone.

I am not convinced that you understand but I believe it will take a paradigm change to drive your thinking.

I am choosing what I believe and ending this discussion here. 😉😊
It is the result of a process. This process takes you to a point of evidence. But humans sometimes think a strong urge to believe is the same as evidence of truth, that's confusing emotional forces with intellectual processes.
