God never told them to beat their servants, actually he told them the opposite and gave them rules.
He allowed servants, servants, servants and if you want to call them slaves then you do so. And to be a person's property simply means treat them like family / take care of them / house them / feed them protect them. Just like you would your own property I know I do mine and I defend it. What about you?

the Bible does not say they could beat servants
it says IFyou SMITE them.
Definition of smite is to strike, to hit whether with an or object -- singular
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/smite
Definition of beat is continual striking hitting with hand or object
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/beat
The newer versions of the Bible translated smite into beat and there is a big difference. And if you choose to promote the word beat then you should also include the word - if - if - if which is the total opposite of giving permission to.
But
Think as you choose
