Many of the incidents you list here are not mass shootings.

Mass shooting as defined by the U.S. statute ( the Investigative Assistance for Violent Crimes Act of 2012) 3 or more killings in a single incident not including the shooter.

So the information you are listening most are not considered mass shootings. Just exaggerating numbers to increase public outcry over gun violence. Many of those shootings were not random acts of violence either they were gang related or vengeance driven
actions. Those in themselves are issue that needs to be addressed separately.

Out of your 323 school shootings this year 112 of them had a victim that was wounded or killed. They define a school shooting as any shots the were fired at or near a school.

It is sad that you people try to play with the numbers to enrage the public by internationally misreporting the facts.

@goodlil666 Especially something like this..

Jan. 22: A shot was fired at Wright State University in Dayton

Nowhere even close to the definition of mass shooting, not even a shooting.

@ruhbekuh Sad , but those are the games they play misrepresenting the real facts trying to enrage the public enough to restrict our second amendment rights.

The social issues that are creating all this deadly violence are what needs to be addressed. Most of the violence comes from inner city and the poor and poverty stricken areas of our country. Not all of it but a very large part of it.

Violence is violence. Let’s figure out what’s driving that. Parenting yes. More God and less quest for instant gratification. How about violent video games? Social media? Electronic device baby sitting. Life long criminal behavior. And so on. I live in a county with more guns than dogs and probably cats. We don’t have these shootings. Guns were plentiful when I was a kid and there was not the level of criminal use there is today. What’s changed? It’s societal decay. Fix that.

@Carazaa Yes. Bad or absent parenting is a major contributor indeed.

@rfatoday I totally agree but let's report the facts so they give a true assessment of what is going on.

When I went to high school in the early 1980' s , I took a gunsmithing class that was offered as an elective. It took place on school grounds during normal hours. it was not uncommon to see students walking around with guns in between classes or before or after school. You were not allowed to bring any ammo with you. But we never had any issues even with firearms permitted on school grounds.

I agree I think a lot of it is due to deterioration of the family unit. Especially inner city kids are not taught and shown respect, love or the value of life. They have little guidance from responsable adults and the gangs become their families. When all you know is crime and violence that's what the results will be.

I think gangster rap is more of an influence on the violence than video games or social media. But whatever the reasons we as a country need to identify and address the issues that are creating this deadly epidemic that is taking so many lives.

Yes on the parenting and yes on keeping weapons stored properly...

Training by parents on gun use and gun safety to their children

And also parenting means monitoring what your children are looking at on social media and just what they are doing and with who ...
