Why Did Jesus Say, 'I Am the Alpha and Omega'?

In three places in Revelation, Jesus refers to himself as the Alpha and Omega.

I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8).

And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment” (Revelation 21:6).

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end” (Revelation 22:13).

Alpha and Omega: The first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, which was used to write the New Testament.

Beginning and the end: Jesus was present at the beginning of creation and will be present at the end of all things.

Eternal: Jesus is God, and he is present from the beginning to the end of time.

Comprehensiveness: The term "Alpha and Omega" means that God includes "all that can be."

Jewish origin: The term may have originated in Judaism, based on passages in the Old Testament, such as Isaiah 44:6 and Psalm 90:2.

Rabbinic literature: In rabbinic literature, the word emet ("truth"), which is made up of the first and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet, is considered to be "the seal of God".

For a persecuted people, knowing that God was before the pain and that God will be after the pain, serves as a balm for the soul. It is an anchor to hold onto in the midst of the storms.

This, of course, can also serve as a warning to not only those who are persecuting God’s people but also it serves as a warning to those who might be tempted to let go during the storm. The storm will not last. God will.

In Revelation 21:6, Jesus’ being the Alpha and Omega is connected to giving drink to the thirsty. He is “the end” for the thirsty. What does this mean? It means that in Jesus, the thirsty have finally found full satisfaction.

Jesus is the stream that will never run dry. He is an infinite source of fulfillment for those who are thirsty for Him.[/b]
@Fieldmaster it's not an interpretation really, it is biblically confirmed throughout scripture. If you're wanting proof of God, he already proved himself as being God when Jesus came to Earth and performed miracles and died and rose again after he was nailed to the cross. Since he is no longer here in person and has completed his mission to show mankind that we are all in the same spiritual boat, in need of a Savior in order to get to heaven, he does not need to prove himself again. That is why by faith we can receive him today, and by Grace we are saved. The proof of God now is in the experience of the transformation that takes place once we invite Jesus into our hearts and lives as Savior.

As you know, many claim that there are many gods out there. But it was only Jesus that loved us enough to die on the cross to pay for our sins so that whosoever comes to him shall not perish but have everlasting life. God the Father sent him to be Savior of the world, and no other. It is not up to man to change that. Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life and no man can come to my father but by me. All that believed that shall be saved. Jesus didn't just say he loves us, he proved it on the cross. Scripture confirms that Jesus is our only mediator between God and man. All the other gods that people have tried to worship, you will notice, our man-made and therefore cannot see, speak, nor hear prayers. That would be like I would go to the store and buy a doll and then start worshiping it. God said not to do that but to rely on him alone. He does answer prayers. I have had many answered by him even saving my daughter's life. Jesus said do not worship idols.

"Alpha and Omega" means the beginning and the end (from the first and last letters in the Greek alphabet).

Jesus is the beginning and the end. He revealed this to his disciples when they asked him who he is. Jesus answered in two words..'I Am". Whoever wants to go to the Father must humble himself through Jesus. ✝✨🙏
@Barefooter25 Amen! Thank you for this important inclusion.
A great explanation on the language!

Jesus is the stream that will never run dry. He is an infinite source of fulfillment for those who are thirsty for Him.

All of us can testify to this who are Christian- no matter how long!

🎶And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace🎶

It is a good interpretation However, him being eternal doesn't mean that he is God. How does that prove him to be God? Just wonder
