Sermon Notes

Today back in my old hometown for father's day- so back to the Anglican church I attended when I first became a Christian!

Again- important to emphasise- this is a rare gold mine of an Anglican church that actually teaches God's word and faithfully preaches the Gospel!

. The book of Job teaches us how to suffer- as we will suffer.

. We may not know the reason for our suffering but we can know this- God is for us, not against us!

. Suffering never leaves unchanged- are you going to have your faith decreased or increased?

. It is OK to be honest to God about your feelings when you are suffering, complaints to God are so much better than indifference towards him!

. The Reverend who lost his son- used Psalm 88 as a prayer!

. We must remember "his ways are not our ways" God has his purposes, we just cannot fathom them- just remember is God for us or against us? As Christians we know the answer!

. In our suffering, we know more than Job- the tomb is empty and we can say in our suffering with FULL confidence "Our redeemer lives!"

Thanks for your comment. I will be going to our United Methodist Church today, as I do every Sunday. We trace our beginnings back to the Anglican Church and still consider it our "Mother Church." My 10th great grandfather, the Rev. Haute Wyatt, was vicar of Boxley Church in Maidstone, Kent.
