The death of the Lyons Martyrs

How would you respond knowing you'd have to die for Christ? The Lyons Martyrs in the 16th Century wrote "Since then, that he is pleased that our blood should soon be shed for the confession of his holy name we reckon ourselves far happier than if we were set at liberty"

Not quite what you had in mind, right?

The fire was kindled, and even in the midst of them burning to death, they could be heard encouraging each other.

Their last words: "Courage, my brothers, courage".

They could have stayed in Geneva- got married, had a nice life but instead they chose God's glory, they didn't have some pop artist pastor view of God- they saw how holy his name was.

I'm not sure I could do that. Could you do that? 馃槼
@Matt85 Thanks for contributing and asking a meaningful question!

I would love to think God would give me strength but I don't think I could provide encouragement to others while being burnt!
@Matt85 Another point- the temptation to stay in Geneva would have been great for me!
