Battling the Storms
Today at mass we read from the Gospel of Matthew:
"Meanwhile the boat, already a few miles offshore, was being tossed about by the waves, for the wind was against it. During the fourth watch of the night, he came toward them, walking on the sea."
Matthew 14:24-25 NABRE
Though this account truely happened to the Apostles, it is also a metaphor for our lives. How many of us go through tough times in life? I know i do for sure. I am going through some now.
Just like any storms, some storms come on quick with little warning while others we may have time to prep a little. But with all storms, it eventually calms down.
The Gospel goes on to account for Peter walking on the sea during the storm. He was able to until he took his eyes off of Jesus. Only then did he sink. We too can "walk on water" (get through the storm/life) if we keep our eyes on Jesus. With faith, no storm can destroy us.
