World needs to be more humble

This is from todays reading at church. Jesus, who is God, humbled himself to ride into his Glory on a donkey. I think the world will be a much better place if more people would be humble. There is too much selfishness in the world. Too much hate.

"Exult greatly, O daughter Zion! Shout for joy, O daughter Jerusalem! Behold: your king is coming to you, a just savior is he, Humble, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey."
Zechariah 9:9

If I starve myself to death in order to preserve the life that would have sustained me, despite the protestations of my loved ones, is that a selfless or a selfish act?

I believe even a humble person can be hateful. And a selfish person can be humble. I believe there is an exception to almost every rule. Perhaps even death.

Even God Himself admitted to Job that He is hated. If even God can be hated, then there is no perfect path to peace or acceptance. Grace is a living thing, and life as we know it, is not absolute.

Religion should be a living, growing, evolving thing as well.

@SnailTeeth We need to evolves society toward a more harmonious relationship with our maker not evolve into the evils that this world presents.

@hippyjoe1955 It depends.
When you apply an ointment, sometimes it stings at first, but in the long-term it's for the best.
There are thousands of religious deities/denominations/etc that exist. Statistically, you're more likely to be wrong about what/who you believe, than right.
If anything, the world needs more consideration.
More thoughtfulness.
Less dogma.

@SnailTeeth if you starve yourself to death would be a selfish act.

I agree that a hunble person can be hateful and vise versa. However, that is the implications of our human nature. God on the other hand is perfection.

Although, we can evolve our knowledge of God and our actions towards others but God does not evolve. He is the same always. Also, God is incapable of hate if you were implying that.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@Random3838 But I starved to death in order to spare the lives of all that which I would've consumed. Denoting it to be a selfless act.

If God was perfect, there would be no division toward Him.

But God did evolve in the story of Noah. That's what the ark of covenant represents.
Random3838 · 36-40, M
@SnailTeeth the end does not justify the means. It would still be selfish.

Our actions has nothing to do with God. God can be perfect and people still hate him.

Your interpretation of Noah is incorrect. The ark of the covenant and noah are completely different timeliness and has nothing to do with each other. The ark of the covenant is Moses.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SnailTeeth So you don't understand Genesis and how God in all His perfection allowed mankind to choose to know Good and Evil or not. Mankind chose to know Good and Evil on the mistaken belief that by doing so they would be like God.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@hippyjoe1955 Tbh, Genesis is like the Pluto of Books/Scrolls. Creationism has gone the way of the dinosaur, simply because it doesn't hold enough water. So, I really don't consider it as gospel. If I were to even consider any of it as gospel.
Random3838 · 36-40, M
@SnailTeeth we wouldnt have the "gospel" without Genesis. Gospel is greek meaning good news. The entire Bible is the Gospel. But the reason we need the "gospel" is because of Genesis.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@Random3838 I was referring to the rainbow as the covenant between God and humanity.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SnailTeeth Actually only the scientifically illiterate believe as you do. Real science is proving that we are here by design not by accident. The simplest cell is immensely complex and had to be that complex from the beginning. There is no way for it to have evolved sufficiently into that level of complexity. Your science is the belief that the car evolved before the wheel had been invented.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@hippyjoe1955 More gaslighting, I see. Do you even realise you do that?

hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SnailTeeth That wasn't a covenant as most people would understand covenant. It was simply a promise that when God sees the rainbow He is reminded of His promise to never flood the earth again. Doesn't mean that He won't destroy it or alter it or punish mankind. It simply means that the flood was a one time event.
Random3838 · 36-40, M
@hippyjoe1955 actually it was a covenant. There are 8 covenants that God made.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@hippyjoe1955 @Random3838 You keep going off on different tangents, and I feel like this is devolving into inanity. So I'm just going to give up here. But maybe work on being more considerate.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SnailTeeth Prove me wrong. Find out for yourself by listening to other scientists who are leaders in the field. The cell is not a blob of 'protoplasm' as Darwin imagined. It is extremely complex and its functions we humans can not duplicate. We can't even get the chemicals into the right order let alone get it to work. Can you define life?
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@hippyjoe1955 You seem like a real happy person, Joe. Have a good day.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SnailTeeth So you have no idea of what a complex world we live in and everything in your life is linear? If A then B may seem logical to you but if there are all kinds of modifiers involved A does not lead to B.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@hippyjoe1955 I haven't read anything you've written in the last 5 replies. I don't care. Please get help.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SnailTeeth Have fun on the freeway. You have nothing to offer to a grounded Christian and your silly approach to Christianity is extremely funny to anyone who has spent time in the faith.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SnailTeeth I know that. You prefer to be ignorant and opinionated. Sucks to be you.
Random3838 · 36-40, M
@hippyjoe1955 thats not very Christ like.

This is my point of the post.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@hippyjoe1955 Yup, sucks to be me.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@Random3838 I don't care.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SnailTeeth Some day you might gain some enlightenment. Until then you remain ignorant and opinionated and the source of great mirth to any Christian reading your drivel.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@SnailTeeth If you don't care why are you still posting on this thread? You already had your theory destroyed and yet you persist on being a pest.
