How easy is it for you to be accepting of atheists? In particular, the rude and aggressive ones.

Lately I'm getting pretty irritated by a special kind of atheist, the ones that just stop by Christian posts and leave a 馃槀 or who make posts belittling or attacking Christians. It seems to be happening more often recently and I've had them pop up on posts that have nothing to do with Christianity.

I think everyone should be able to voice what they believe in a respectful way and its really bothering me that some people can't be kind or just pass on by if it's not in alignment with their world view.

How do you manage this kind of thing? Do you just ignore or do you block? Lately I'm blocking in order to protect my own mental health.

If you think everyone should be able to voice their beliefs, then you shouldn't either block people who say things you disagree with or voice them in the way you dislike. In this regard, Jesus' conduct is the best example to follow when dealing with people who do harm to you.

Jesus was literally killed.

@sree251 You seem to know a lot more about the gospels than I do.

But I thought one of the rules of this site was that you must not be abusive.
sree25141-45, M
@BohemianBoo Yes, Jesus was killed. People are being killed since forever.
BohemianBooM
@sree251 So Jesus didn't exactly handle his situation that well.

@SW-User Abuse is a subjective state of experience unless it is physical. You can not find evidence of abuse that is not suffered by the body. Can you show verifiable evidence of abuse over some words in reply to your posts?
sree25141-45, M
@BohemianBoo Why do you that? I think Jesus handled his situation perfectly. He neither retaliated nor defended himself against abuse from others.
BohemianBooM
@sree251
He neither retaliated nor defended himself against abuse from others.
Sounds pretty cucky.
sree25141-45, M
@BohemianBoo I checked the definition of cucky because I don't know what you mean. I checked on the internet.

cucky: .... a man who has politically progressive or moderate views.

Is that what you mean? I don't think Jesus was political at all. He did say "give to Caesar what is Caesar's". And I read that to mean he was apolitical.
BohemianBooM
@sree251 Here's a better and much more common definition: informal, disparaging + often offensive : a weak or submissive man.

I think refusing to defend yourself from abuse is cuck shit.
sree25141-45, M
@BohemianBoo It's a tough call, I know. I don't consider myself weak at all when I live by Jesus' teaching.

In the Jesus story, he was cornered by his community out to silence him permanently. It's similar to what is done these days when one is banned from an internet platform. There is no defense. You just disappear.

That literally never happens. When someone is banned from one platform, they just move to another one.
sree25141-45, M
@BohemianBoo I know, but we are talking about life. This is the only life we have.
BohemianBooM
@sree251 And that's why we should stand up to abusers. The end. 馃槑
sree25141-45, M
@BohemianBoo No, I don't believe that's a wise attitude. Such a tack will end up to endless conflict and suffering. Right now, your attitude is causing war in Ukraine pitting the entire west against Russian and China even though there are no real abusers. It's the fear of abuse that's causing wars. It's cowardice, in my opinion. China is an enemy serious enough for wrecking the global economy? Billions will suffer long before nuclear war.
BohemianBooM
@sree251 OMG. What exactly is the alternative to standing up to Russia? Letting Putin take over Ukraine and abuse the Ukrainians like he abuses his own Russians? And then what? Putin has said he wants to rebuild the Russian Empire and he's already invaded three countries that used to be part of Russia. If he takes over Ukraine, he's not going to stop. He's going to go after Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and so on. This is what happens when you don't stand up to bullies and abusers.
sree25141-45, M
@BohemianBoo You are letting your fears run away with you. It will be suicidal if Russia tries doing what you believe they are doing. Before it all began, Russia was supplying oil to Germany and driving the economy of western Europe. Russia didn't stop the oil flow. So what if Russia moved into Ukraine?
Russia is a small US$1 trillion economy. There is no way it can take on the west. The US alone has a $23 trillion economy. The EU's economy is another $16 trillion. This is probably the reason why we think we can and want to crush Russia and refuse to diffuse the conflict. I think it is a bad calculation. As we say in America, the gun is called the equalizer because even a small man can protect himself from a big bully. Russia is the small man in this conflict with the giant west. And Russia has the equalizing gun: nuclear weapons. We couldn't even win wars despite having the firepower to pummel the life out of small nations like Vietnam, Korea, and Afghanistan. Only a bully would take on a small guy. This is the trait of a coward. Russia is fighting for its life against us. Guess who is going to get hurt first.
