Christians who believe that Jesus is returning very soon...how much time would have to pass before you would be surprised that Jesus hasn't returned?

Why do people still believing he will return?
Logically it is impossible for that guy going back.

They don't but they're too conceited to admit they're wrong.
iamelijah · 26-30, M
@Sharon Ironically they should know that is one of deadly sins. And they consumed by it.
@iamelijah

Because he said he would and they believe him even as the timeline extends and extends and extends.

@iamelijah human logic again. When did human logic come into it. When did your brain begin to understand the divine?
iamelijah · 26-30, M
@Mathers Of course I am relying on logic. I see, I feel and I observe.

Divinity is too vague for me to understand.
When Jesus will come? At least state precise date, place and time for us to wait his arrival and not just clinging based on predicition completely.
Mathers · 61-69
You are relying n human logic. The Bible makes it clear we don’t know the time and date. It will be ‘like a thief in the night.’ @iamelijah
Mathers · 61-69
@iamelijah you really need to expand your so calked logic.
iamelijah · 26-30, M
@Mathers Well, we agree to disagree then.
Mathers · 61-69
Stay where you are my friend@iamelijah

These so-called "prophecies" never specify a time so they can never be said to have failed. Those who believe them can simply keep saying they're "yet to be fulfilled" until some random event occurs that can be made to fit.
Mathers · 61-69
The fact is that when the prophetic word leading up to it comes true we can be assured that the final word will. Interesting that the people who scoff like you are themselves fulfilling the prophecy. @Sharon
Sharon · F
@Mathers Al these prophecies are vague, metaphorical amd open ended. It's just a matter of waiting until some random event matches one of them. As @Kwek00 said -
When you are selling bullshit, then the idea that "scoffers will come" at some point is a self furfilling prophecy. It's a pretty good tactic to defend yourself from any criticism without ever having to deal with it.
Many christians also put a lot of effort into turning the general public against them so they can claim the prohecy that they will be hated has come true too.
Mathers · 61-69
You are of course quite wrong. There are many which have come literally true. Unfortunately to the sceptic nothing will ever be taken as evidence. N9ne so blind as those who won’t see@Sharon
Sharon · F
@Mathers
You are of course quite wrong.{/quote]
LOL, You are quite wrong course, See how that works?
There are many which have come literally true.
Such as? Give an example of a clear, unambiguous, prophecy that came true at the time it was prophecised to.

‘Babylon shall become a heap of ruins’ @Sharon
Sharon · F
@Mathers When was it prophesised to happen and when did it happen?
Mathers · 61-69
Jeremiah and Isaiah prophesied it when it was at the height of its powers, the greatest nation on earth, @Sharon
Sharon · F
@Mathers I'm not interested in when they made the prediction, i want to know the date they predicted Babylon was going to become a heap of ruins.
Mathers · 61-69
About 300 years before it hapoened@Sharon
Sharon · F
@Mathers As I said, I'm not interested in when they made the prediction. I want to know the date Babylon was supposed to become a heap of ruins and when it actually did. I get the feeling you're trying to avoid the question.
Mathers · 61-69
The fact is it did and when Saddam attempted to rebuild it he was ejected from power!@Sharon
Sharon · F
@Mathers But the fact remains that it didn't occur when they said it would. A prediction without limit of time is worthless as it can never be said to have failed.. One simply waits until some random event occurs that the prediction can be interpreted to fit. Until that time, believers can simply say, "it's yet to be fulfilled".

I predict you will win a lottery. If you ever win even a minor prize is some form of lottery, my prediction will have come true, thus proving I have devine foresight. Until then, it's simply "yet to be fulfilled", The longer we have to wait for it to come true, the better. It will prove I can see very far into the future.
Mathers · 61-69
Let’s face it you are the sort who will not believe even if something happens in your face. Jesus healed a man and all they wanted to do get rid of him. You would have been in that crowd of closed minded skeptics.no good arguing with a closed mind. @Sharon

@Mathers
Let’s face it you are the sort who will not believe even if something happens in your face.
I go by the evidence. You haven't presented any. You've just avoided the question and responded with childish insults. There's no real evidence the biblcal Jesus even existed, just a collection of myths, many of which appear to have been copied from older belief systems.
Mathers · 61-69
You are of course completely wrong in what you say and have been proved wrong in recent years by archaeologists and scholars if only you would get off the Internet and stop reading the lies of these atheist websites who are about 100 years behind the time in their scholarship@Sharon
