Christian Daily Word (20)

Daily Word for Christians...Here's the scripture to meditate on!

Ecclesiastes 12:1 (NLT)
"Don't let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say: Life is not pleasant anymore."

Analysis of the Daily Word

Young man and woman, decide who you will serve. You have to prove for yourself who God is, what his will is, and how you can do it. (Romans 12:2) Only then can you make the most important decision of your life: that of serving your Heavenly Father. (Joshua 24:15) If you read and study the Bible regularly, your love for God and your faith in him will grow stronger. Focus your life on doing God's will. Satan's world promises that if you use your talents for your own benefit you will be happy. However, in reality, those who focus their lives on material things cause themselves "a lot of pain". (1 Timothy 6:9, and 10) Instead, if you listen to God and decide to put his will first, you will do well in life and "act wisely!" (Josh 1:8)

How did Joseph and Mary put the command in (Deuteronomy 6:6, and 7) into practice, and what important decisions did they have to make?

Joseph and Mary were able to help Jesus earn God's approval because they followed the instructions God gave their parents. They both loved God very much, and the most important thing for them was to help their children to have that same love. (Deuteronomy 6:6, and 7)

Joseph and Mary decided to maintain a good spiritual routine for the family. They went every week to the synagogue in Nazareth and every year to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. (Luke 2:41 | 4:16) They may have used those family trips to Jerusalem to teach Jesus and his siblings the history of God's people. Perhaps too, along the way, they visited places that are mentioned in the Scriptures. The larger the family, the more difficult it must have been for Joseph and Mary to maintain that spiritual routine...but putting God's Kingdom first was worth it, as the family was indeed in good spiritual health.

What lessons can Christian parents learn from Joseph and Mary?

Above all things, show your children that you love God from the heart by what you say and do. The greatest gift you can give is encouragement and unconditional love so that they may take that and cultivate it...in turn to help them love God as well. One of the most important lessons you can teach them is how to maintain good conduct that includes study, prayer, preaching, and participating in the services held at the church or temples. (1 Timothy 6:6) Provide them with the material things they need to succeed in their personal journey. (1 Timothy 5:8) However, remember this point, what will help your children survive the end of this wicked system being controlled by Satan and have the opportunity to enter God's new world will not be material things, but their good friendship with God. (Ezekiel 7:19 | 1 Timothy 4:8)
