Christian Daily Word (2)

Daily Word for Christians...Here's the scripture to meditate on!

1 Corinthians 7:28 (NLT)
"But if you do get married, it is not a sin. And if a young woman gets married, it is not a sin. However, those who get married at this time will have troubles, and I am trying to spare you those problems."

Analysis of the Daily Word

Marriage is a perfect gift from God, but human beings are imperfect. For this reason, the Word of God warns married people that they will have "difficulties in life". (1 John 1:8) God expects Christian husbands to care for the spiritual, emotional, and material needs of their families. (1 Timothy 5:8) However, married sisters have to set aside time every day in their busy lives to read God's Word, meditate on it, and pray to God from their earnest hearts. This can present a challenge, as wives are very busy. It is essential though that you make time to do all these things. Why? It is because God wants each of his servants to cultivate and maintain their own friendship with Him. Sure, the wife may have to make an effort to respect and obey her husband, which is imperfect...but she will find it easier to fulfill the role God has given her if she understands and accepts the Scriptural reasons why she should accept the authority of her husband. (Acts 17:27)

Jesus respects God's authority. Does he do it because of a lack of intelligence or skill? No, because only a very intelligent person could teach as simply and clearly as Jesus did. (John 7:45, and 46) God has such respect for Jesus' abilities that he allowed him to work alongside him when he created the universe. (Proverbs 8:30 | Hebrew 1:2-4) Since Jesus was resurrected, God has given him "all authority in heaven and on earth". (Matthew 28:18) Despite having so many abilities, Jesus still looks to God for guidance, and he does so because he loves his Father. (John 14:31)

What can husbands learn? God did not establish the principle of authority because he thinks that women are inferior to men. He has made this clear by choosing both women and men to rule with Jesus. (Galatians 3:26-29) Just as God has shown that he trusts his Son by giving him authority, the wise husband will also give his wife some measure of authority. God's Word describes a competent wife as a woman who can oversee her household, buy and sell land, and do business. (Read Proverbs 31:15, 16, and 18) She is not a slave. Rather, her husband trusts her and considers her ideas. (Read Proverbs 31:11, 26, and 27) When a man respects his wife in this way, it is a pleasure for her to be under his authority.
