Based on a careful reading of the fairy tale, Jesus was not a "Jew" but a Galilean. The "Jews" were specific to Judea. Remember, each tribe had its own specific area in Palestine, like a State. Jews were in Judea, especially in towns like Jerusalem and Bethlehem. That is why Joseph and Mary went to Bethlehem for the birth and why Herod flipped out in Matthew chapter 2 when the wise men came to worship the new king of the Jews. All of the tribes were Israelites but only the inhabitants of Judea were "Jews." Jesus had to be born in Bethlehem in order to fulfill the prophecy. Remember, David was from Bethlehem and Jesus was supposed to be his descendant.
Micha 5:2 (CEV) = "Bethlehem Ephrath, you are one of the smallest towns in the nation of Judah. But the Lord will choose one of your people to rule the nation— someone whose family goes back to ancient times."
John 7:42 (KJV) = "Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?"
In other passages people are associated with the area they were from, like we refer to Texans, New Yorkers, Californians, etc. They are all Americans like all of the tribes were Israelites.
Jesus was not a true Jew; he was a Galilean and was sometimes called a Samaritan.
He didn't sacrifice shit, for anyone.
In fact he wasn't even known much outside of his city ; until a Greek bloke called Paul founded a cult of Christ based on a "vision" he had of "Jesus". This Christ cult was one of many, and ended up killing many of the others to found the first Church and many modern Christian sects.
The "colour" of Jesus is important to prove or disprove the validity of Christianity and it's claims. As it would appear that Western "White" Christianity is the imposter, wearing the "skin" of Jesus. Jesus was Jewish and olive skin. He also hated White people - aka Romans - as they were killing and oppressing his people, then.

Only a subset of Americans care about his colour. The rest of the world doesn't seem to care.
