At the height of covid pandemic:

The Alberta Government decided to attack churches. There was one on the outskirts of Edmonton around which they put up a fence and locked the doors. Then they put the pastor in jail. There was a large protest from everyday Albertans whose reputations were being destroyed. Locking up a pastor for preaching in church on Sunday? One fellow who had recently from Ontario was driving down a street in Edmonton when he heard about the jailed pastor. He found the church on google maps and drove there to join the protests. He wasn't a Christian but something really bothered him that the government would lock up people for doing their job. Two weeks ago he was baptized by the pastor that had been locked up for practicing his faith. The protestor is now a Christian.

@SW-User What makes you think that was persecution. It was government overreach. They shut down the entire economy. The churches were just one of many victims.
