Why do people worship their favorite imaginary deity out of fear?

The Bible has lots of stories where people were forced to worship the God character out of fear. They were frightened that he would kill them if they didn't comply with his demands to be worshiped. He did kill hordes of people who rejected his demands and he is always threatening to kill all of humanity unless people cater to his every whim.

Are you fearful of incurring his wrath?

Your premise is based on fear. Huge mistake. It's all based on LOVE!!! 😊

@Oster1 Haven't you read the fairy tale?

Genesis 22:12 (NKJV) = And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”

Genesis 42:18 (NKJV) = "Then Joseph said to them the third day, “Do this and live, for I fear God:"

Exodus 1:17 (NKJV) = "But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive."

Leviticus 19:14 (NKJV) = "You shall not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block before the blind, but shall fear your God: I am the Lord."

There's well over one hundred such passages. And don't forget, the Jesus character will have his minions grab and toss you into the fire if you tell him to get lost.
@Diotrephes Awe, reverence, respect and devotion and sometimes actual fear, is how the term fear, in the Bible, is used.
