We Believe in God

Everytime I tried to convert my daughter to Christianity she would get defensive and shut me down immediately. So I prayed for God to convert her because I couldn't. Last night at 1: 00 In the morning I heard her singing for the first time to God for all of the things He has done for her! Especially singing that He made a movie about her and that He knows her! I was thrilled I couldn't believe what I was hearing could it really be my 18 year old daughter singing love songs to God for all He has done for her! Thank You Jesus for saving my daughter when I couldn't!

I pity your poor daughter. :(
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@Sharon Why would you feel like that?
Sharon · F
@DavidT8899 I know what it's like to be badgered and harried by evangelical christian zealots.
TheWildEcho · 61-69, M
@Sharon by the sound of it she's not been badgered or harried, just entered into a relationship with God in her bedroom. I'm sure she will enjoy her Christian life as much as I have!
Sharon · F
@TheWildEcho Read the OP, she admits to repeatedly trying to convert her daughter to christianity. That's what christians do.

I wonder if you'd be as understanding if a Satanist parent were rejoicing over her daughter finally, after years of rejecting her parent's beliefs, finally became a Satanist herself. The principle is exactly the same.

I enjoy my Atheist life much more than any christian I know!
TheWildEcho · 61-69, M
@Sharon im glad you enjoy your atheist life but why are you always so negative ? Every time you reply to my posts in in an extremely negative way, often denigrating my beliefs in a very unpleasant way. And are you an atheist? I thought you were a pagan believing in Odin
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@Sharon No,the principle is indeed NOT the same because the two belief systems you have mentioned are not only different but completely antithetical to one another.Satanism is a worship of one's self and one's personal disired to the exculsion of all other things and people. It is selfish,inter-directed and only leads to unhappiness and unfulfillment.Christanity,on the other hand, teaches love, selflessness and respect for all beings and people. It is a path to self-respect and contentment.

@TheWildEcho I replied to the OP, you decided to jump in when I answered @DavidT8899's question.

How about you answering my question now? Would you be happy if a Satanist parent kept on at her (own) daughter, attempting to convert her to Satanism? How about an Atheist parent attempted to convert her christian daughter to Atheism? Would you be happy at the parent's rejoicing that, at last, her daughter had come to her senses and accepted reality?
TheWildEcho · 61-69, M
@Sharon I wouldn't want anyone to become a Satanist because if they don't repent they will spend eternity in a terrible place
Sharon · F
@DavidT8899 The principle is exactly the same, the belief systems just happen to be in opposition. Both cases involve one person attempting to convert another to her belief system. I chose Satanism as an example but any other belief system would demonstrate my point just as well. As I asked @TheWildEcho, would you be happy at the parent's rejoicing that, after repeated failed attempts to convert her christian daughter to Atheism, she had finally come to her senses and accepted reality?

.Christanity,on the other hand, teaches love, selflessness respect or all beings and people.
If you really believe that, you obviously haven't read the bible. You've probably just been fed carefully cherry picked excerpts from it. Christianity is all about oppression and exploitation, witness the oppressive laws christian try to get passed. Look at the hatred they show for the LGBTQ+ community. Indeed, anyone not like them. The church has accumulated immense wealth at the expense of its victims. Why does an "almighty god" need so much money,

I wouldn't want anyone to become a Satanist
I wouldn't want anyone to waste their lives by becoming a christian. I've seen too many lives ruined by christianity.
TheWildEcho · 61-69, M
@Sharon another negative post denigrating my beliefs, the OP was delighted with her daughter and all you do is post something negative, you've replied to many of my posts, always full of negativity
Oh and is it atheist or pagan?
Sharon · F
@TheWildEcho I'm just treating your beliefs the same way you treat others' because I presumed you followed the doctrine of "Do unto others...". Isn't that what you want me a to do? You gave your reason why you wouldn't want anyone to become a Satanist. I gave my reason why I wouldn't want anyone to become a christian. If I were denigrating christianity, you were denigrating Satanism.

How about you answering my question, then I'll answer yours. Here it is again -
How about an Atheist parent attempted to convert her christian daughter to Atheism? Would you be happy at the parent's rejoicing that, at last, her daughter had come to her senses and accepted reality?
TheWildEcho · 61-69, M
@Sharon I've already answered you, check my previous replies

And ok you don't want to answer my question so that's ok, I don't want a long slanging match!! Have a nice evening!
Sharon · F
@TheWildEcho You answered in respect of Satanists, not Atheists. Maybe you think they're the same, a lot of christains claim that anyong who doesn't worhip their god is in league with Satan.

I'm an Atheist with an interest in various forms Paganism. I see the Pagan deities as personifications of the forces of nature.
