Without God everything is vanity, futile! Without God only one story can be told and that is the story of how absurd everything is. Without God man is

In relationship with nothing but himself ultimately. He has nothing to choose and he's just piece of clay, so whatever the clay wants, that's the object of that exercise.

Here is a list of Solomon's vanities. Now, at the end of his life, Solomon was a man who said that his life was empty and had no real value and was worthless. Solomon was a man who had it made; he was one of the most successful, wealthy, educated and wise people on the earth, yet we get to see his mind at the end of his life, where he says he wasted his life. He wasted his life because he did not prepare to die; he did not prepare for the afterlife. Here is a list of Solomon's vanities:

Works done under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:4)

The enjoyment of pleasure (Ecc 2:1)

Wisdom (Ecc 2:15)

Leaving your goods to someone else (Ecc 2:21)

The labour of wicked people who will have to be passed to those who are 'good' (Ecc 2:26)

A man's physical life (Ecc 3:19)

A man being envied for doing right (Ecc 4:4)

A man who lives for himself (Ecc 4:7)

The failure of a leader to be appreciated (Ecc 4:16)

The love of money (Ecc 5:10)

The inability to enjoy wealth (Ecc 6:2)

Coveting - by letting your desires wander all over the place to lust after various things (Ecc 6:9)

The unsatisfied appetite (Ecc 6:7)

The laughter of the fool (Ecc 7:6)

No wonder that at the conclusion of Solomon's sermon, he cries out 'Vanity of vanities; all is vanity!' He begins and ends his sermon with the same text (Ecc 1:2 - Ecc 12:8).

Don't pursue things that don't transfer over at death. Live your life cognizant of the fact that your life is short and spend your time glorifying Jesus Christ and setting your affection on Heavenly things. Make sure you get to the end of your life like the Apostle Paul who said, I am now ready to be offered and the time my departure is at hand. He said, I have fought the good fight. He said, I have finished my course. And he said, I have kept the faith. He said, I am ready to die.

@DocSavage Older doesn't necessarily mean better. We have many corrupted Bible versions today. In fact, all modern Bible versions like the NIV, ESV, NASB, NLT, NASB, etc etc remove, add and twist the scriptures, and these Bibles come from a completely different line than where the KIng James Bible comes from. The king James or Authorized version comes directly from the original Hebrew and Greek. The King James comes from the textus receptus or the majority text, whereas the modem versions comes from codex Vaticanus (found in the vatican library) or codex Sinaiticus (found by a German textual critic in a trashcan near a monestary) - manuscripts that are said to be "older" btw. And these manuscripts were just discovered in the 1800's. Many of these modern versions come from a different line, like the Douay Rheims and other Catholic Bibles, which come from Jeromes Latin vulgate, which is merely a translation of the Hebrew and Greek, not directly from the Hebrew and Greek like the KJV.

Erasmus in his 1516 Greek/Latin new testament, he put the churches Latin and the original Greek side by side to show the contradiction between the two and that there were errors in the Churches Latin; that the Latin was corrupted, not the Greek. The textus receptus is considered to be the most important book ever printed. Even as an atheist you have to acknowledge that this is the most important book ever printed.

Satan counterfeits. Satan has been trying to corrupt Gods Word since the time of Paul, and he knows He can't mess with Gods true Word - the line that God promised to preserve all the way up to the King James, so Satan instead uses his minions to come out with all these hundreds of other Bibles and mixes in lies with the truth. He messes with doctrine, removes verses and twists verses in these modern Bibles.

Do you really believe it is necessary that we have all these different translations? Of course not. The King James and the line that led up to the King James is Gods true Word and anything that contradicts that is false. You would be greatly educated if you watched this:

@SW-User So, there are hundreds of versions of your book, but all those versions are corrupt or riddled with error.

But not your version.

Your version is perfect

@newjaninev2 It is not my version, it is the correct version that has been the standard and the one used throughout history, coming straight from the original hebrew and greek. The Bible was originally written in Hebrew and Greek, so yeah, we want the version that comes from them, obviously. Not versions that come from a different line or from a translation of a translation. It is not my problem that many people decided to create their own Bible versions because they are too lazy to learn the KJV. Why just settle for anything, disregarding its history, and not seek the correct version that is linguistically and historically accurate, in accordance with what was originally written? You, as a "science" minded person should be all in favor of this.

Your bias and dishonesty are showing. I suppose you don't know much about languages and translations, though, I see. So maybe go back to your fairy tale for adults - evolution? Perhaps stick to that subject.

Btw, check out my 44 proofs debunking your evolution religion. You'll enjoy.
@SW-User Poor Solomon. Had a long life. Many wives and concubines. Lots of children. Ruler of a nation and he was one of the most successful, wealthy, educated and wise persons on the earth. If he existed.

Yet led a failed life? We should have it so bad. It reads exactly like mythology and fiction.

“You believe in a book that has talking animals, wizards, witches, demons, sticks turning into snakes, burning bushes, food falling from the sky, people walking on water, and all sorts of magical, absurd and primitive stories, and you say that we are the ones that need help?”

@SW-User King James himself directed translators of the Bible to reflect his beliefs and what he considered to be important concepts. That's like me translating the DMV handbook to suit my own needs.

Very little in the Bible is provable using the scientific method. We learn more every day, but there's not a single academic professional who will call any version of any Bible God's written word.
