I don't understand Christianity

- The bible is 2000 years old and has been rewritten and re-interpreted multiple times but people still take it so literally
- Jesus was around just over 2000 years ago, so did everyone before then who didn't know about this religion go straight to hell?
- What about people who don't accept jesus into their lives because they havn't heard much about Christianity or grew up in a different religion? Do they deserve an eternity in hell?
- If you are Christian, why? And are you open to other truths? Or do you believe the bible is the only truth?

I've never understood it either nearly all the books were found to have been written about 70-100 years after his death. So I think it's a bunch of non-sense. Also how is a 2,000 year old book mostly letters about someone, which is hearsay, still considered a primary source grow up I say.

@exchrist If you think Christianity is based on a book you are very sadly mistaken. It is a shared experience. One that you obviously haven't had so you have no qualifications to comment on Christianity. Nice try though.

@hippyjoe1955 I voiced my opinion and I experienced Christianity until I deconverted at about 13. It still seems to me to have been and to be a shared interpretation of the bible and the alleged teachings of Christ. Some people fall for it I don't. Good Day Sir

@hippyjoe1955 Also until they recognize the dead sea scrolls far more likely to contain the words of Jebus, I can't be involved
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@exchrist The Dead Sea Scrolls predate Jesus by a few hundred years. You do have issues.
exchrist · 31-35
@hippyjoe1955 And the new testament was written 50+ years after his death. Add he is allegedly still alive in Iowa so you are correct something is wrong and inaccurate
exchrist · 31-35
@hippyjoe1955 Some of the dead sea scrolls predate jesus and some area dated to the first century AD So you got some issues too
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@exchrist Matthew took notes at the time. That is the source document for the three synoptic gospels. The third synoptic author took the source material and found eyewitnesses to verify it.

@hippyjoe1955 I'm skeptical but ppl believe, I don't nothing is likely to change my mind. I even met the person from Iowa claiming to be Jesus and I'm pretty sure it was. Plus my DNA matches King David so I'm all set thanks
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@exchrist The Essenes were not Christians if that is what you are babbling about. The fact is the more modern carbon dating done on them seems to indicate that they are older than first assumed so right back at you.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@exchrist If you think you DNA saves you.... Now that is funny!!!!

@exchrist Biblical Christianity is essentially a death cult. It is based on the idea that dead people return to life and therefore Jesus did too (1 Corinthians chapter 15). The writer slipped in a sly passage that showed that it was all an elaborate hoax, verses 15-16 (MEV) ="15 Yes, and we would then be found false witnesses of God, because we have testified that God raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up, if in fact the dead do not rise. 16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ has not been raised."

Do the dead rise on this planet? Not that I am aware of.

The writer did not say that Jesus was raised from the dead and therefore all of the dead will also be raised nd you will be too after you are dead. That idea is completely different from the one expressed in verses 15 & 16.

If you are driving by a cemetery and see corpses coming out of their graves than 1 Corinthians 15:15-16 will be true. But it has never been true on this planet so far. So, by Paul's own words, he was a liar and his religion is false.

@Diotrephes So says the guy who thinks the bible was written in 600 AD. Too Funny!
exchrist · 31-35
@hippyjoe1955 My DNA and my brain makes me not care. Since Catholics assigned my gender at birth; prolly in the name of jesus, at least, for them; like I said before I can't be involved
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@exchrist Catholics? You don't believe in biology? Wow. No point in trying to discuss sanity with the clinically insane.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 I won't block you but I will no longer respond to your comments until you produce valid links or admit that you were wrong. Base on observation, hell will freeze over first so Bye.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Diotrephes Good thing. I am busting a gut laughing at your utter ignorance.
exchrist · 31-35
@Diotrephes all good bro I have my opinion u have your Perhaps some of my sources are inaccurate but how to tell. When I've been preached to by christians quoting a bunch of writings so old. I'm not looking for a response or to argue been a fair convo. Have a good one

@hippyjoe1955
Catholics? You don't believe in biology? Wow. No point in trying to discuss sanity with the clinically insane.
I've had a rough day, but this made me chuckle. @exchrist believes that Catholics said "you shall be a man" or "you shall be a woman" at birth? 🤣 Doctors are the ones that do that, based on whether you have a male appendage, or female genitalia. Hell you don't even have to be a Doctor or religious to be like "hey that's a woman, she's got no ..."
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@ShadowWolf So before doctors existed how was it determined who was a man and who was a woman?
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 Features and appendages :)
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@ShadowWolf Completely agree. When our oldest daughter was born there was no doctor there. Everyone in the room knew the newborn was a girl. Well the newborn didn't seem to care at that moment.
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 Mhmm. It's truley hard to argue with biology. If someone has the male appendage they are biologically a guy and assigned it at birth. Vice versa for female. Anyone who disregards this as a social construct is blissfully ignorant. Even a sex change operation DOES NOT change the chromosomes from XY to XX or vice versa. Nor does it make a working reproductive organ of the opposite sex.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@ShadowWolf I would say that the sex of a person is set at conception. The sperm determines the genes that decide male or female.
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 I agree with this, as this is where the actual chromosomes/genetics get decided.
