Why Would A Christian Do This?

Discourage other Christians from telling the world about the rapture of the church and the 7 year of tribulation written in scripture reserved for those left behind?

Simple.

They're not living right and aren't sure they'll make it on the first flight. They get uncomfortable hearing about the rapture because they're so comfortable living a life of sin.

There has large amount of end of the world predictions throughout history. Bible based or not. All have failed to occur and there’s no reason to pay attention to anything new.

@BlueSkyKing Anyone who knows much about the scripture knows that it clearly says that no one but God himself knows when it is going to happen. The hopeful ones though say that we were given clues. Clues for anything seldom mean anything because of obscurity.

Also anyone who knows anything about the scripture knows they are just a jumble of part writings from between 2,200 and 3,200 years ago.
@Punches All prophecies in made in the Bible are only fulfilled in the Bible. None have any independent validations.
@BlueSkyKing They're also vague, metaphorical and open ended.
@NortiusMaximus As I quoted in another post, the author Ursula Le Guin says all fiction is metaphor.
