Hypocrites

It seems that some people love to boast about how they love the biblical God (they never use his name) and Jesus but they flip out when their hypocrisy is exposed.

A typical case in point =

[removed by staff] Why are you deleting your God's commandments? Do you want to end up in the lake of fire?

Deuteronomy 21:18-21 (ERV) =
Children Who Refuse to Obey
"18 “A man might have a son who is stubborn and refuses to obey. This son does not obey his father or mother. They punish the son, but he still refuses to listen to them. 19 His father and mother must then take him to the leaders of the town at the town meeting place. 20 They must say to the leaders of the town: ‘Our son is stubborn and refuses to obey. He does not do anything we tell him to do. He eats and he drinks too much.’ 21 Then the men in the town must kill the son with stones. By doing this you will remove this evil from your group. Everyone in Israel will hear about this and be afraid."

Exodus 21:15 (NKJV) =
“And he who strikes his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.

Jesus said that people had to follow all of the commandments, so what is up with the picking and choosing?

Matthew 7:26-27 (NKJV) =26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

I lost a post responding to comment by a poster on another thread who stated how wonderful the Bible is so I will rephrase it here.

I merely pointed out that if you want to follow the biblical God and gain his mercy that you have to do everything that he commands because he said that his laws were forever.

Jesus repeated that in Matthew 5:19 (ERV) =“A person should obey every command in the law, even one that does not seem important. Whoever refuses to obey any command and teaches others not to obey it will be the least important in God’s kingdom. But whoever obeys the law and teaches others to obey it will be great in God’s kingdom."

When I pointed out that the biblical laws state a child who strikes one of his parents must be killed =

Exodus 21:15 (ERV) =
“Whoever hits their father or their mother must be killed."

That also includes cursing them =

Exodus 21:17 (ERV) =
“Whoever curses their father or mother must be killed."

So, if people say that they believe in Jesus why do they refuse to obey his teaching in Matthew 5:19 that specifically states that believers are required to obey every command in the law?

@Diotrephes We are to honor our parents yes, but we have no punishment in the next life if we love Jesus. The laws of capital punishment, stoning, slaves, and selling children in marriage is a foreshadow of Jesus. It is important to understand that Jesus abolished the works, but not the love 🙂 It is all a shadow of the new heaven and the new earth. Hard to understand but easy peezy for saved people.
