Do you believe in a God that Tortures people for eternity? [I Christian]

Some christians believe it but are troubled by a god that seems so evil.

Some christians delight in the thought of hell and cant wait to laugh at their enemies burning alive for eternity(these are called psychopaths)

And some christians try to not speculate what exactly hell or heaven are, or perhaps they have some interpretation that eases their conscience.

What do you think about the concept of eternal torture? Do believe it is the best form of punishment/justice that the omnipotent mind of a loving God could devise? Or maybe just the vindictive musings of a primitive warmongering society?

Perhaps what many have come to believe nowadays is to be cut off from God. Can you imagine being in a cold dark World filled with zombies and demons for eternity. That alone is scary enough.

@Zonuss to be in a world with others like themselves devoid of care and compassion for others. Hell might just be a very cold place

@Zonuss what kind of offense would someone have to commit against you for you to feel justified in sending them to this place? Is disagreeing with you enough? Or not taking you at your word when you tell a fantastic story?

I've severely disliked a few people in my life, some of them (dictators and the like) I even thought might need to die to spare the suffering of others. But torture them for a billion times a billion years? And then torture them for forever after that? You could cut my arms off and I still wouldn't wish such a thing on you, ESPECIALLY if it were the case that heaven would restore and counteract every bit suffering anyone has experienced.

@Frenchmansfury it’s their choice in the end. Some are so devoid of compassion and love for others that they have cut themselves off from compassion even for themselves.

@cherokeepatti why are they devoid of compassion?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Frenchmansfury they have a twisted way of looking at life.

@cherokeepatti it is interesting that you say that.

I look at those who we would say lack compassion and love for other people as people who are also suffering. As I brought up in another thread, people who are sociopaths and psychopaths have something demonstrably wrong with their physical brains. An omnipotent, loving God who aspires to compassion and asks it of his followers, would surely look at this physical ailment that his creature had no control over, and fix them.

Take someone like Vladimir Putin. A ruthless, manipulative, murderous man if ever their was one. What strikes you as most compassionate?

To throw putin in a place of torture for eternity and forget about him?

Or to take the time and use your infinite power and knowledge to correct the mental illness and help him be a better person?

If we're going to talk about compassion, I think you'd have to choose the latter to remain consistent.
