Yes. I am not sure what John meant when he recorded his vision(s) in his Revelations. It makes me glad that our our NT record of Jesus is clear that salvation is not based upon knowing the true meaning of such passages.
The simplicity of forgiveness/salvation is, itself, yet another gift to humanity.

that would bite if revelations are not a prediction of today's times. we now have the rf id chip that can be implanted in your hand and you can buy or sell with a wave of your hand over the scanner. people are holding chipping parties where they are taking the mark of the beast in their hand. 😺

@SomeMichGuy we now know what it was talking about.

@Silverwings lol That is interpreting, not reading.
The biblical text doesn't say RFID chip, so you have to be careful to delineate the actual text from any interpretation of it.
Interpretations of prophecy in general and esp. of Revelation, in particular, is fraught with peril. Just look at how many times the Watchtower Society has announced the end of the world...and been completely wrong.

@SomeMichGuy they did not have the words for rf id chip back then or understood what it was or did, god just showed them it and that you could buy and sell with it. you would have to take it or you could not buy or sell and would be beheaded if you refused the mark of the beast. would be dammed to hell if you took the mark of the beast. 😺

Revelations is basically an acid trip, I just take a "far out, man" view on the whole thing.

@QuixoticSoul John of Patmos did get up to some freaky stuff in that cave, and there is a chance he had access to some psychedelic mushrooms. I've also seen some speculation that it was his attempt to frame the religion in a way that would appeal to new Greek converts because it shares some traits with the Leto/Apollo/Python myth.

@QuixoticSoul ? lol Where do you get that?
John says he is shown things, and writes down what he sees (unless he is told not to do so).
There IS meaning there, partly because he has a guide and asks (Isaiah writes down the visions he has, but they seem to come in a rush/jumble, and it seems to me that he is trying to be a faithful reporter of that which he may not understand, but which he feels he must convey).
To put it into the most basic context, though, Jesus never said that we needed to understand any particular verse as a requirement for salvation.

@TiffAching lol
Where do you get this?
I do want to give you kudos for clearly marking a later notion as "speculation," instead of asserting speculation as truth.

No body has answered my question?

What does that mean?
